White Bear Lake, MN (1/21/2008)
- The WPSA has released an updated
event schedule for the 2008 PowerSports ATV
Championship Tour. The schedule features eight
event venues, two of which will host double
header race weekends to accommodate the 10
round WPSA Pro450 MX Championship and the
Pro Stock Quad Terrain Championship series.
The PowerSports ATV Tour Amateur Championships
will be contested during the eight event season
with one throw-out race available to the amateur
competitors. This will result in a “Best
of Seven Races” final scoring format
for the amateur and youth classes.
“We worked closely with our sponsors,
our riders and other circuits to create a
schedule that minimizes conflicts with school
obligations and other racing series so that
our racers can maximize their seat time and
sponsorship exposure throughout the year,”
said PowerSports Entertainment, Inc. CEO Rick
Murphy. “Several new venues have been
added that we feel enhance our ability to
provide a high quality racing experience for
the racers, families, friends and fans. We
have also taken into consideration the positioning
of the ATV Championship Tour in larger markets
so that we can expand the fan base and reach
a broader audience.”
Scott O’Malley, President of PowerSports
Entertainment, Inc. stated, “We’re
pleased to welcome back the Pro and Amateur
teams that have been with us for the last
two seasons. This year we expect to see new
teams for Can AM and Polaris racing for the
Pro 450MX championship, as well as new teams
for Suzuki and Polaris in Pro Stock Quad Terrain.
With six manufacturers represented in the
chase for the Pro 450MX crown and two new
factories bidding for the QTC championship
there is certainly going to be some entertaining
racing action for the fans at the events and
our TV audiences at home.”
