Hurricane, UT (4/14/2010)
- The WORCS anniversary tour is almost 1/3 over
and it has been exciting to date. Taylor Robert
is undefeated as a pro wining the last round
of 2009 and the first of 2010 all that even
with a blown ACL on the third lap at Speed World,
Special "K" Kurt Caselli let everyone
know he was back in the deep sand of Primm and
Dietrich found his moto speed for Havasu and
never really looked back. Two Lake Havasu wins
in a row, not bad. That is what makes WORCS
so good. There are a number of real contenders
each week that will be in the mix but consistency
and stamina will win the ultimate prize.
Speaking of consistency, WORCS Bike Week is
coming up soon and the first Cycle News advertisement
will come out this week with details of the
event. After last years participation I can
not wait to see what happens in 2010. This really
is a great way to see who is the best overall
off road racer out there and I am excited to
crown this years WORCS Bike Week National Champions.
The Hare Scrambles portion of the week event
will be a Saturday and Sunday event. There will
be activities to do during the week and most
likely an industry golf tournament on Monday
after the first weekend. RC Car and Bicycle
races looks to be on the schedule and a general
good time should be had by all.
After Havasu, the scoring system and online
web reporting are going great. It has
really lived up to the expectation I had. The
biggest issue now is racers just not charging
their purchased transponders 10 hours Thursday
or Friday prior to the
race weekend like the directions state. If you
leave the transponder in the charging
cradle it will stay idle while driving down
the road and this will ensure long battery
life for the weekend. Once it is charged there
should be no need to charge it again
for the race weekend. We really appreciate your
help with this. If they are not
charged, the live timing is off, the result
take longer to produce, and after Round
6 if they are not charged and do not read, you
will not be scored in the event. It
is really easy for us to see the charge state
and how long they were charged, so
please do your part and keep the live web results
accurate and the scoring girls
happy.
There is a new LCD live results viewing screen
on the WORCS semi for everyone
to see the live action as well. We hope to implement
a few more of these around
the pits in the future.
Honey Lake is coming up soon and I really hope
every one gets a chance to come out and race
what I feel is the model WORCS track. Tough,
fun and full of great stories to take home.
We will see you a llat Adelanto and next onto
Honey Lake.
