In Moto 1 Chad Wienen was unable to get a good
jump on the gate drop and found himself with
his worst first turn position of the year back
in 10th place. However, Wienen quickly made
work of the field in front of him and was able
to position himself into third place before
the halfway point of the race. Wienen then charged
after second place rider, Thomas Brown but was
unable to make a pass until there were two laps
left in the moto. Wienen was unable to catch
the first place rider and took second place
in moto 1.
Moto 2 Wienen came out of the holeshot in a
much better position sitting in third place
behind holeshot winner Josh Upperman and Thomas
Brown. Wienen made a quick move on Brown before
the end of the first lap and settled into second
to set his sights on Upperman. Wienen was able
to catch Upperman and take over the lead position
before the halfway mark of the moto and was
then able to set a comfortable lead to the finish
line.
"I'm really excited about the overall win
at Red Bud. It's my favorite track on the circuit
and the track was in excellent conditions this
weekend. There was a ton of fans there to support
me this weekend! Thanks to all of the sponsors
that have been there to make this happen. I'm
looking forward to the final race of 2012 coming
up in two weeks to finish off this Championship
run!" said Wienen.
Wienen now sits 36 points ahead of the rest
of the field with one round left of the 2012
season at Lorretta Lynn's Dude Ranch August
11.
