Chandler, AZ (2/3/2011) -While
Corry Weller and Weller Racing have been synonymous
with UTV racing throughout the past few years, the
Weller name will soon become a familiarity in the
desert racing scene as well, since Corry Weller
is set to help pilot a brand new BBQ Island Trophylite
truck during the 2011 Best in the Desert (BITD)
race season.
Owned by Mike West, who is an avid off-road enthusiast
as well as a successful business owner (www.bbqislandinc.com),
this is the first Trophylite truck built that
is powered by a Ford 2.0 liter Zetec motor. In
addition, it will also be the first Trophylite
to run the Molten Orange, Ford Raptor inspired
body that is sure to stand out and demand attention
during its debut outing at the BITD Parker 425,
which is being held in Arizona this weekend.

truck class is a popular “spec” class
that participates in a number of racing series
throughout the country. Its affordability has
allowed many people the opportunity to try their
hand behind the wheel of a competitive truck with
a durable motor and plenty of suspension.
“I can’t thank Mike enough for giving
me this amazing opportunity” says an excited
Weller. “I have raced a couple of desert
races in my Rhino, but have never had the chance
to try one in a truck. I consider something like
this to be a great cross-training experience,
and I really respect the BITD series as well as
what Greg Foutz has done with the Trophylite class
as a whole. I’m really looking forward to
getting behind the wheel!”
In addition to participating in the 2011 BITD
Series, Weller will, once again, be pursuing a
championship in the highly competitive SR1 UTV
class for the Lucas Oil Off-Road Race Series.
