St. Cloud, MN (9/14/2011) –
Warnert Racing’s Chris Bithell and Adam McGill
came back from the summer break and charged hard
to take second and third in the XC1 Pro class at
round number nine of the 2011 GNCC series this past
weekend at Unadilla.
Severe flooding in the North East section of
the country caused officials at Unadilla to shorten
the course for Saturday’s races, making
for a seven lap race in the afternoon classes
and six laps would be the average in the morning.
Track conditions were good but a bit muddy for
the morning classes, and cleared out nicely for
the afternoon races and worked to the advantage
of the Warnert team.
Warnert Racing’s Chris Bithell was in the
top ten off the start in the XC1 Pro class and
worked up to fourth by the second lap. Bithell
held a fast and steady pace for four laps and
watched as the leader would change several times.
Wanting to take his own shot at the lead, Bithell
made a hard charge for the front of the pack in
lap five, passing Chris Borich and Adam McGill
for the pro class lead. Bithell looked strong
and confident, but in the final lap, after a heated
battle, Bithell would fall to second behind Borich.
Despite lap traffic and pressure from teammate
McGill, Bithell held the number two spot all the
way to the checkered flag, taking second place
in the pro class. “It was pretty crazy.
There were a lot of lead changes going on,”
said Bithell.

Adam McGill was outside of the top ten on the
start and he knew that he needed to get out front
fast if he was to stay close to the points leader.
McGill put the hammer down and moved into the
number six spot by the second lap and kept moving
forward. In lap four, took his shot at the lead,
but it would not last as he fell back to second
in the next lap. McGill held down the number two
spot for two laps before he got hung up in lap
traffic in the final lap, causing him to fall
back to third, where he would stay all the way
to the checkered flag.
“I was hoping for a win, but I still took
third and Chris (Bithell) was second so it was
a good day for our team,” stated McGill.
Women’s class racer, Lexie Coulter, returned
from injury after breaking her arm while practicing
just after round seven. Coulter was in third after
the first lap, but fell back to seventh place
in lap two. Coulter made a hard charge and was
able to make her way back into the number three
spot in the Women’s class by the fifth lap
and held it all the way to the checkered flag.
Round number ten of the 2011 GNCC series will
be heading to Somerset, PA for the Mountain Ridge
round on September 24th, where the Warnert Racing
Team will be going for the podium.
