St. Cloud, MN (5/16/2011) –
Warnert Racing’s Adam McGill braved the elements
to find his way to the pro podium at round five
of the 2011 GNCC series, while Lexie Coulter rode
a solid race, taking third in the morning Women’s
class.
The Indy 100 round, held in Gosport, IN was a
challenging one for many racers, since this was
the first time that the series has traveled to
that track. Tight trails, open fields, creek crossings,
and hill climbs kept things interesting, and the
addition of heavy rain in the afternoon classes
only added to the level of difficulty that racers
would encounter, but Warnert Racing’s Adam
McGill took it all in stride.
McGill moved into the number three spot early
in the race and held down that position until
lap three when the rain began to fall. Due to
the heavy rain, track officials put out the two-lap
card, but track conditions deteriorated so fast
that it was decided that lap four would end the
race. McGill had fallen back to fourth, but moved
back into the number three position before reaching
the checkered flag. “I’m glad it’s
over! The track was good when we started out,
but as soon as it started raining, it got so slick.
It was one of the slickest tracks I have ever
been on. I feel lucky and I am glad to be on the
podium,” stated McGill.
Teammate Chris Bithell was on a mission early
in the race. Bithell was in sixth off the start
and soon worked his way into fourth. Bithell made
his way by McGill in the third lap, and looked
as if he would be making it to the podium, but
in the final lap, Bithell got stuck in a huge
mud hole. Despite the incredibly sticky situation
that required the help of several people to free
him, Bithell still charged on to take a top ten
finish

The morning classes were fortunate in that the
rain held off and dry conditions prevailed and
helped Lexie Coulter finish in the top three of
the Women’s class. Coulter started out in
second and was looking good, but she would get
caught up in one of the many bottle necks that
formed during the morning classes, dropping her
back to fourth. Coulter charged hard and made
her way back up to third place before crossing
the finish line.
2011 GNCC racing series will head to Patton,
PA for the Rock Run on May 28th where Warnert
Racing’s Adam McGill and Chris Bithell will
be going for the podium.
