T.O.P.'s
Chad Wienen took his second win at round
2 of AMA ATV Motocross Series

Galena, IL (3/22/2011) - Round
Two of the AMA ATV Motocross Nationals took us
to Pell City, Alabama and Mill Creek Motocross.
Chad Wienen continued to show that commitment
to both on and off the bike training is necessary
to run at the front of the pack this year. He
had the fastest time in qualifying allowing him
to get the first gate pick for the first moto.
When the riders came around the 180 degree turn
at the top of the giant hill Chad was in third
place behind Joe Byrd and fellow T.O.P. rider
Nick Denoble. It took Chad a few laps but he continued
his pursuit of the two Hondas. Once in the lead
he set a nice consistent pace to the checkers.
Other T.O.P. riders suffered from a case of bad
luck in the first moto. Denoble was putting in
a strong ride until a rough downhill section got
the best of him sending him over the bars. Rookie
pro and T.O.P. rider, Joel Hetrick, also fell
victim to the ruts causing him to flip in the
same turn as Denoble. Thomas Browns mechanical
woes continued in the first moto.

Joel Hetrick battled with T.O.P. Teammate
Nick Denoble and finished 10th place

Lining up for the second moto, Wienen again had
first choice of which gate he would launch from.
When the gate hit the dirt he had a great jump
and was narrowly edged to the line at the top
of the first hill. Within the first lap he made
a pass for the top spot over Joe Byrd and put
a nice gap between himself and the rest of the
field. Hetrick came back strong in the second
moto after his first moto crash. After a near
back of the pack start he was able to put on a
charge and finish the moto in 7th spot. Hetrick
battled with Thomas Brown and Denoble for much
of the moto. Brown finished in 8th and Denoble,
despite his first moto crash, dug deep and fished
in the 9th spot.
In the Pro-Am division T.O.P. riders Jesse Barnes
and Sean Taylor showed that their tireless preparation
will land them on the podium very soon. Jesse
finished the Pro-Am Unlimited class 5th overall
on Saturday. Barnes showed that on any given Sunday
he will be seen at the front of the pack. Finishing
the day 6th overall leaves him in great position
heading into the next round in Kentucky. In his
first racing action of the season Taylor ran a
consistent 3-4 taking 4th overall in Pro-Am Production.
With nearly an 8 week layoff from riding, Sean
used T.O.P. training and conditioning to propel
him on Sunday. After the race his hands showed
that they hadn’t been on the bars in a while
but he felt great physically. Look for the 199
Honda on the podium very soon! Spring is in the
air in Iowa and these two will now have the opportunity
to train on the bike daily. Keep your eyes on
these Iowa natives as they continue to run with
the best Pro-Am racers in the country.
Bryan Vollmer had his first taste of national
racing in the US in Georgia. He left Georgia with
added confidence and brought it with him to Alabama.
He finished in the third spot in Production B
in only his second national race. If he gets the
start that we know he is capable of look for the
Canadian and his Baldwin Honda on the top spot
very soon.
Europe: Mark Watson spent the weekend in Holland
at round 2 of the Dutch Championship Series. This
was a testing session for Mark as he prepares
for round 1 of the European Quad Championship
which is also held in the deep sand of Holland.
He was able to get the Holeshot aboard his KTM
in the first moto and easily take the win. He
was poised to do the same in moto 2 but a mechanical
mishap ended his testing session. He’s ready
to show that his hard work and T.O.P. training
has done its job this offseason at round one of
the European Quad Championship.
WORCS Series Round 3 - Lake Havasu, AZ
Matt Hancock continued to see success
out west. He continued his winning ways two weeks
ago in his local series, Whiplash Off-Road Series,
winning both of his races. In WORCS action this
past weekend Hancock was running consistently
at the front in all three of his classes finishing
a strong second in one. On Sunday morning he had
a 20 second lead but with only a ½ lap
left in his race a rock knocked his chain off.
He’s consistent training is paying off and
showing that T.O.P. will benefit all riders not
just motocross athletes.
