Shelbyville, TN (9/9/2014) - After a long summer break, Round #10 of the Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) was back in action this past weekend at the infamous Unadilla Raceway in New Berlin, New York. Team UXC Racing spent the summer break training, testing, and working hard to fine tune the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS and was excited to showcase their hard work on the track.
Team members Michael Swift (Pro 4x4) and Don Higbee (40+ 4x4) were among the 400 plus riders when the green flag dropped in the morning race. Swift found himself in 6th position off the starting line and shortly falling back to 7th after a failed pass attempt. The second lap of the race was much better for Swift after passing four contenders in the Pro 4x4 class. With the 2 card showing through the finish line, Swift knew he had to ride smart in order to catch the leaders. With 400 plus riders on the track he knew it would be no easy feat.

On the motocross track with only 5 miles to the checkered flag Swift lost his muffler due to over jumping a single, resulting in a hard landing. “I lost my muffler while on the motor cross track trying to see how far the Polaris Scrambler 850 would fly! The only good thing about that was I had lost my voice from yelling at all the lap traffic riders and now the Scrambler was so loud it was scarring the lappers off the track before I could even get to them,” said Swift.
Swift kept his composure and made a pass with only 3 miles to the finish. Team UXC/Polaris Factory #209 took the Pro 4x4 class win while landing a 2nd overall out of 425 racers. Swift likewise made history giving Polaris their first Pro 4x4 ATV class win.
“I can not put into words how I feel right now. It was a great day out there and I had a blast racing the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS. All of our hard work and countless hours are starting to pay off. I want to thank my family, Polaris, our sponsors, and all the people that have helped, supported and stood beside me. I only plan to grow on this win and produce more results for our team and sponsors,” claimed Swift.

Team UXC/Driven PowerSports racer Don Higbee took a podium finish in the 40+ 4x4 Class. Higbee left the starting line in 2nd place where the top three riders battled back and forth the entire race. Higbee was edged out just before the finish line and took the 3rd place finish and 37th overall. “Michael Swift had the Polaris Scrambler 850 EPS set up perfectly for me when I arrived on the long trek from Wyoming. The Custom Axis shocks were dialed and I ran with the leaders in my class all day. I appreciate the support Polaris and the rest of our sponsors have given us this year,” said Higbee.
Team UXC Racing’s Chris Robinson competed in the 6th round of the TORN series this past weekend. Robinson finished with an impressive 2nd place on his Polaris Scrambler 1000 EPS. Greenville, Texas will be the host for round #7 of the TORN series. Robinson will be on hand to defend his title. Look for Team UXC at Round #11 of the in Summerset, Pennsylvania in two weeks.
