UXC Racing’s Cliff Beasley Wins U2 Class at the John Penton GNCC

Team UXC Racing's Cliff Beasely won the U2 Class despite coming off an elbow injury

Shelbyville, TN (7/11/2012) - Team UXC Racing’s Cliff Beasley was back on top and took the U2 class win at round number nine of the 2012 GNCC series in Millfield, OH this past weekend while 4x4 Open class racer, Michael Swift claimed a solid second in his class.

Hot weather and dusty conditions made for a difficult weekend. The course was mostly single lined through the woods and offered few opportunities to pass, leaving the only the motocross section and the open fields. The fields became quite dusty over the course of the race and passing through there was tough, but the tough conditions didn’t stop the UXC Racing team from doing their best.

In the U2 class, Cliff Beasley was still recovering from an elbow injury he sustained at Snowshoe, but you would have never known as he shot off the start and took an early lead. Beasley did fall back to second briefly, but he was about to settle for anything less than a win and charged his way back into the lead. Beasley pushed hard and claimed his class win by over 46 seconds and his overall time of 01:40:08 put him in third overall in the morning classes. “It was a tough race, but I just stayed focused and tried to ride smart. My elbow was feeling pretty good for the most part, so I was able to go out there and take another win,” said Beasley.

In the 4x4 Open class, Michael Swift didn’t get the start he was looking for after colliding with another racer off the start. “We got stuck and I was in last place going into the woods,” said Swift.

After colliding with another rider and starting dead last Michael Swift worked his way up to an impressive second place finish in the 4x4 Open Class at the John Penton GNCC

From there, Swift put the hammer down and charged his way through the course and caught the leader halfway through the second lap. From there a fierce back and forth battle brewed. The battled continued for most of the race until the final lap when Swift got caught up in some lap traffic and fell back, giving him second at the checkered flag. “It was really hot out there and that made it tough. As long as you were moving it was ok, but once you stopped, the heat caught up to you really quick. Overall it was a good weekend and I’m glad I was able to finish well. I am going to be doing quite a bit of testing over the break and I am hoping to come back in September and smoke the competition,” said Swift.

In the 90 Limited class, Tayton Swift took his best class finish of season. Tayton rode a solid race and despite the heat, he was able to finish in an impressive third place, giving him his best finish to date.

The GNCC series will be taking it’s summer break and pick back up on September 10th as the series heads to Unadilla in New Berlin, NY for round number nine, where the UXC Racing team will be going for wins all the way around.
