Can-Am's Cliff Beasley is known for getting great starts & Powerline Park GNCC would be no exception. Beasley placed third in the U2 class

Lewisburg, TN (10/12/2011) - Powerline Park was full of challenges for round number eleven of the GNCC series, but the UXC Racing team was up for that challenge as Michael Swift furthered his points lead in the 4x4 Open class and U2 class champ, Cliff Beasley, put on his most impressive performance of the season.

Despite the unseasonably warm weather this past weekend, there were still a few big mud holes at Powerline Park that made things difficult for many racers, but for the most part, conditions were good, making for a great day of racing.

In the 4x4 Open class, Michael Swift took second in his class, furthering his points lead and putting him in prime position for the championship. Swift came off the line in second place and quickly took the lead. Swift was in the lead and starting to pull away, but in the second lap, Swift would get stuck in one of the many mud holes. “It took me a little while to get out and that set me back,” said Swift.

Team UXC Racing's Michael Swift placed second in the 4x4 Open class aboard his Can-Am Outlander 800X XC Utility ATV at Powerline Park GNCC

Swift charged hard, but decided that it would be best if he would settle into a steady fast pace. “I was bouncing off of trees and it was pretty rough, so thought it would be best to just calm down and finish the race instead of possibly crashing or breaking something because at this point it’s not so much about winning the individual race, but doing what I need to do to win the championship,” stated Swift. The number 210 racer kept his pace and held down the number two spot for three laps before taking it to the checkered flag. “I would have liked to have won, but it was better to ride smart and play it safe this time. It was rough out there but my Outlander handled it great and got me to the finish line, stated Swift.

They say all good things must come to an end, and that was the case for Cliff Beasley this weekend as his impressive winning streak ended at Powerline Park, but it ended in one of Beasley’s most dramatic and impressive performances to date. Beasley shot off the line and took an early lead, putting an almost five minute gap between him and the rest of the pack. Beasley looked as if he would be heading for another win, but in the final lap, not far from the finish line, Beasley’s front a-arm broke causing his wheel to lock up. “I couldn’t move forward, so I ended up riding the track in reverse for about a half a mile before it fell off all the way,” said Beasley.

Despite having some mechanical issues with one of the front a-arm breaking Beasley still placed third aboard his Can-Am Renegade Sport Utility ATV!

Cliff Beasley in known as one of the fiercest competitors on the track and he wasn’t about to go down without a fight. After freeing himself of the front wheel, Beasley got back on track and continued to race on only three wheels. Amazingly, Beasley was still in the lead, but the lack of four wheels slowed his efforts and allowed his competitors to catch up. “I was leading all the way until about a quarter mile from the finish line and then I got passed. I was a little disappointed because I only lost by about ten seconds,” said Beasley, who still finished in an impressive third place in his class. Beasley’s dramatic finish earned him massive amounts of cheers and applause from spectators and fellow racers as he crossed the finish line on just three wheels. “It was a fun time anyway, and I suppose if my winning streak was going to end, that was probably the best way it could have ended,” said Beasley, whose 29 consecutive wins is an all-time record in the GNCC series and will be a very tough record to break.

Round number twelve of the GNCC series will be heading to Crawfordsville, IN on October 22nd for the Ironman round of the series, where the UXC Racing team will be going for the win and the podium.
