North Adams, MA (5/21/2010) -
We headed North to Maine for
round 3 of the 2010 NEATV-MX Series to
be held at MX-207 in Lyman. The weather
for the first time since we have been
racing atv motocross was sunny & dusty
all weekend, where usually its dark &
rainy.
Bobby Ross made the trip up from New
Orleans for the 3rd round of the NEATV-MX
Series, who hadn’t ridden a quad
since the Bowling Green National almost
a month ago when he qualified 3rd fastest
in Pro-Am Production, which would have
placed him 6th fastest in Pro, and capped
off that weekend 5th overall. It didn’t
take long for him to feel at home.

Polaris' Bobby Ross was on fire
after his third place finish in
Moto One, he grabbed the Pro-Am
Moto Two Holeshot ahead Jasmin Plante,
Joe Haavisto & Cody Miller,
and Ross would eventually drop back
to third, which secured him a spot
on the Podium in 3rd Overall |
In the the first moto of pro he came
all the way from the back to finish a
hard fought 5th. In moto 2 he also finished
in the 5th giving him a 5th overall for
the weekend. When Pro-Am rolled around,
Bobby got out mid pack and made his way
up to the 3rd spot by the end of the moto.
In moto 2, his final moto of the day,
he got a great traction off the line with
his Gold Speed tires, and with help from
his Idolspeed Holeshot Device would help
propel Bobby to corner first and lead
the class out of sight. Bobby’s
holeshot was one of 7 holeshots on the
day for the team. When the pros would
come back into view Bobby had slipped
to 2nd, and a couple laps later Plante
would make the pass putting Bobby into
3rd where he would stay for the remainder
of the moto. He would finish 3rd overall
for the day, giving Southside their first
Pro podium of the year.

Paige Whipple lead both her Women's
races to the checkered flag first
and went 1-1 on the day
|
Paige Whipple coming off a great weekend
at round 2 of the series, going 1-2 finishing
2nd overall in Womens, was determined
to do better. In the first moto of womens
she got out 2nd behind Thompson, and stayed
with her watching her lines, and then
on lap 3 she made her move and took the
lead from her and went on the win the
moto. In moto 2, Paige grabbed the holeshot
and never looked back taking the win and
the overall. Paige also entered the Open
B class, and in the first moto got out
2nd, right behind her teammate Bruce and
went on the finish 4th, in the second
moto she finished a solid 10th for a 5th
overall.
Bruce Gaspardi Jr., running 4 classes
during the weekend, first headed out for
collegeboy where he got out 5th and made
his way up to 3rd by the end of the first
moto, keeping the two in front of him
in sight. In the 2nd moto he got out 2nd
and paced himself for the moto holding
off the 3rd place challenger, and taking
2nd overall. In Open B, he got the holeshot
and went on the win the moto. In the 2
moto, he got the holeshot again and held
the lead for the first lap, and then loss
power and struggled to get it running,
but did and managed to finish out the
moto.

Bruce Gaspardi ripped another
holeshot aboard his Polaris 450MXR
ATV
|
In Production B he got the Holeshot and
led for 2 laps, before getting stuck on
a berm and stalling where he would fall
back to 3rd, but got the quad fired back
up and regained the lead and win the moto.
In the 2nd moto, he got holeshot, and
led for 3 ½ laps and then fell
back to 2nd but would take the overall
win.
In 4-stroke B, he would get out 5th and
nearly miss the first corner pile up and
make his way up to 3rd by the end of the
moto. In the 2nd moto Bruce would get
his 5th holeshot of the day and lead the
class of out sight, but would not come
back around, losing power again, and this
time he would not get it refired, they
thought they had solved the issue after
the incident in Open B but didn’t,
it wasn’t until they got it back
to the shop on Monday that they pulled
the hood off, open the cap of the circuit
breaker area and two fell out.
They must have gotten loose from the
hard landing on the big table after the
start, but they fixed the problem and
are already for Southwick in a few weeks.

Nate Morello made his 2010 NEATVMX
return at MX207
|
We also worked with Nate Morello & Morello Racing this weekend, and he had
some bike problems on Saturday during practice,
so he ran one of our Southside Polaris’
for the weekend in the Pro division, where
he finished 6th in the first moto, and then
in the 2nd moto would get caught up in a
first corner incident which privoted the
bars down, and he could not continue. It
was nice to work with them this weekend,
and we appreciate the effort both on and
off the track over the course of the weekend.
