/ Yamaha's Thomas Brown placed fourth
at AMA ATV MX Round 4 |

YAMAHA powered by MOTO X-PERTS had another solid
weekend at Sunset Ridge. Round 4 of the AMA Pro
ATV MX Nationals were held at Sunset Ridge MX
near Walnut, IL this past weekend. Going into
the weekend, Thomas was very confident following
his 4-3 (Fourth Overall) finish in round three
at Budd’s Creek MX in Maryland.
Thomas put in some fast qualifying laps in
Q2 to secure the 5th gate pick, just 0.85 of
a second off the fastest qualifier. When the
gate dropped for moto 1, Thomas would emerge
from the first corner near the front of the
pack. On the run down the hill toward turn two,
Thomas was pinched hard to the inside and forced
off the track and over the bars. After scrambling
to upright his quad and get back on the track
Thomas would find himself at the back of the
pack. Three turns later Thomas would again be
scrambling to get back on his quad after another
incident with the same rider. Now half a lap
down from the leaders, Thomas remounted his
YFZ450R and set off to catch and pass as many
riders as he could before the end of the moto.
Putting his head down and charging hard, Thomas
would work his way back up to sixth place before
mechanical issues resulting from the turn two
crash would cause him to lose a position and
finish seventh.
“I’m so proud of my team; they
had a lot of work to do between moto’s
just to get me back on the track. It was pretty
intense but everybody knew what had to be done,
and I’m lucky to have all these great
people working with me this year” stated
Thomas.
Thomas would have a much better start in moto
2, emerging 4th out of the first turn and working
his way up to 2nd on lap two. On the third lap
Thomas would make a pass for the lead and would
run out front until fellow YAMAHA rider Chad
Wienen moved by him on lap nine. Thomas remained
a close second for the remainder of the moto
until a mistake with just a few corners to go
would move him back to third, giving him fourth
overall for the weekend.
