-Team Suzuki/Yoshimura has a new number to paint on their
semi for 2007. #191 Dustin Wimmer from Center Valley,
PA has officially been signed to race for the team for
the next two years.
Dustin has been a pro rider since he turned 17 and
has had a stellar career so far. His first GNC Championship
year ended with him in the sixth position. 2005 moved
him back to 9th and then back up to 6th this year. In
2006, the World Power Sports Association had its inaugural
year and Dustin Wimmer spent most of the season in first
place only to lose to Team Suzuki/Yoshimura's Doug Gust
in a down-to-the-wire finish in the final race.
Gust, however, is looking forward to have him trade
Honda Red for Suzuki Yellow. "Wimmer is an outstanding
racer," Gust said. "I'm sure glad he's going
to be on my side next year."
Wimmer was also excited about joining the winning team:
"It really hasn't hit me that I'm actually going
to be racing with Doug Gust as my teammate. I've always
looked up to him like my idol."
The two will make an interesting duo as they bridge
the generation gap – This next year will find
Gust celebrating his 40th birthday and Wimmer his 20th.
No matter what, 2007 is shaping up to be an exciting
year for Gust, Wimmer and the rest of us.
