Equipped ATV Riders Sweep DAKAR Rally
Alejandro & Marcos Patronelli
Place First and Second in ATV Class
Fallbrook,CA (1/18/2012) - The
Dakar Rally is known as being
one of the most difficult, and dangerous races
in the world. The event
spans roughly two weeks, and for 2012 covered
approximately 9000 kilometers
(nearly 5,600 miles) across Argentina, Chile and
Peru!
Following an event like Dakar is made much easier
these days with mobile
apps and internet available everywhere you turn.
Watching Tomas Maffei
hold in the lead during the early stages with
the Patronelli brothers in
pursuit and closing the gap and overtaking throughout
the stages makes for
an exciting event, even when so remote from the
action. Last years winner,
Alejandro Patronelli took home the top honors
again this year, with his
brother (2010 Dakar winner) Marcos coming in second.
Maffei received a
20 minute penalty but even without, would not
be enough to take a step up
on the podium and ended the rally with a very
impressive 3rd.
Only the strong survive and the Roll Design /
Elka suspension combination
continues to prove that it is worthy of the fastest
racers, harshest
weather and toughest terrain on the planet.
Congratulations to the entire 2012 Dakar Quad
Podium!

About Dakar Rally
The adventure began back in 1977, when Thierry
Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan
Desert during the Abidjan-Nice Rally. Saved from
the sands in extremis, he returned to France still
in thrall to this landscape and promising himself
he would share his fascination with as many people
as possible. He proceeded to come up with a route
starting in Europe, continuing to Algiers and
crossing Agadez before eventually finishing at
Dakar. The founder coined a motto for his inspiration:
"A challenge for those who go. A dream for
those who stay behind." Courtesy of his great
conviction and that modicum of madness peculiar
to all great ideas, the plan quickly became a
reality. Since then, the Paris-Dakar, a unique
event sparked by the spirit of adventure, open
to all riders and carrying a message of friendship
between all men, has never failed to challenge,
surprise and excite. Over the course of almost
thirty years, it has generated innumerable sporting
and human stories. To learn more about the
