Fallbrook, CA (3/31/2011) - Dustin
Nelson #94, gains valuable championship points
with his 3rd place finish in Lake Havasu. With
three rounds completed of the 9 round series,
Nelson is only 5 points back from the 2010 champion
Josh Frederick, and 7 points ahead of the 2009
champion Beau Baron.
Lake Havasu course of the WORCS ATV series is
known as one of the most brutal courses of the
year. The track is small, technical, and challenging,
but more physical as there is no place to rest
from the extreme pounding on the body from the
relentless whoops throughout the course. As the
saying goes, “No one can win the series
at this place, but you can sure lose it here.”
Nelson aboard his Yamaha/Roll Design/Elka YFZ450R
would get a great start and quickly fall into
the 3rd spot behind the Can-Am rider’s Josh
Frederick and Jeremie Warnia. Nelson would chase
the Can-Am for the entire race, but the rough,
single line track made it extremely difficult
to pass and after 30 minutes the leaders would
start to catch lap traffic making it impossible
to make any time up to the leaders. Nelson would
put in an impressive run securing the 3rd Spot
on the podium under extremely difficult track
conditions.
The Production A Class at Havasu saw 32 amateur
riders on the gate. Many of which, got their setups
tuned and dialed in for the race at the trackside
Elka Service Center rig. Erik Westergaard and
Doug Roll were working the midnight oil helping
out the Amateurs. “Roll Design had a great
day here at Havasu with 7 of the Top 9 Production
A positions, with Keith Johnson winning the class”
–Said Erik.
Julie Russell MCR/Roll Design/ Elka Suspension
would once again dominate the women’s A
class taking home the 1st place trophy and adding
more points to retain her #1 Plate for 2011.
WORCS heads to Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza California,
April 22-24. Be sure to come out and see all the
great racing before the series head north for
the summer.
