Minneapolis, MN (9/15/2009) -Daryl
Rath showed he was hard at work dialing in his
Sportsman 850 XP with EPS during the GNCC Summer
Break by taking third in the “4x4 Open”
class at Unadilla. After one of the most exciting
Utility races all season with the top three
riders finishing only seconds apart. Rath sits
in second in the GNCC series standings for his
class, only 21 points out of first, with three
races to go.
Unadilla seems to be known for rainy, muddy
and cold races with this past weekend being
no exception; it didn’t look good with
rain clouds settling in on Thursday and Friday.
Mother Nature surprised everybody with a much
needed break in the rain when it was time
to go racing.
Starting on the way outside Rath’s
line to the first turn gave him some trouble
putting him back as far as eighth place. That
didn’t hold Rath back for long as he
worked his way through the pack of riders
to take over the lead. Leading for a good
portion of the race the epic battle was on,
with the leaders swapping leads almost every
corner on the last lap this race was going
to come down to the “luck” of
picking the right line to take home the win.
Luck just wasn’t on Rath’s side
this time but he is looking forward to the
next round.
” We have been dialing and testing
this bike all season and this race proved
we are definitely headed in the right direction.
I am not finished yet as I am excited to continue
dialing this bike in as I work towards my
personal goal of putting this Polaris Sportsman
850 XP on top,” said Rath. “This
was one of the closest Utility races of the
season and I think I can say we all had the
best time battling it out on that track.”
Rath Racing’s newest team member Lynn
Sather showed what he was made of, with a
successful first event on his Sportsman 850
XP with EPS bringing home a fourth place finish
in the “4x4 Open” class.
Rath continues to make great strides during
the Sportsman 850’s inaugural race year,”
said Eric Nault, race team manager for Polaris.
“We look forward to a strong finish
to the 2009 GNCC race year.”
The next GNCC Race is the Moose Yadkin Valley
Stomp, in Yadkinville, NC, September 26-27.
