Oakland, KY (8/17/2011) - Dalton
Millican has won the AMA ATV National Championship
in the 450A Class. Millican has had an unbelievable
year riding his PARTS PLUS HONDA. Millican was
off and running with a win at the first event
of the season in Antonia Georgia and concluded
his championship run with a second place at the
last event he ran in the 450A class in Unadilla,
New York.
The AMA ATV National MX Series takes your best
finishes at eight of the eleven races on the schedule.
Millican was able to have the Championship wrapped
up in nine races. Millican won four races, finished
second four times and his worst finish was third.
In these nine races Millican was behind the starting
gate eighteen times and he had the holeshot in
fifteen starts. Great starts and consistent finishes
have made Millican the 2011 AMA ATV National Champion.
“Our Part Plus Honda has been flawless
all year. We never failed to finish a race in
the 450A class thanks to great equipment. This
gives MPE Motorsports its seventh Championship
including the six my Dad has won in drag racing.
I really want to thank everyone at Parts Plus,
MPE Motorsports, Lucas Oil, Nitro Fish, Maximum
Cycle, Walsh Racecraft, Custom Axis and Hoosier
they were a huge part of winning this along with
a lot of other great companies” Millican
said.
In between winning the 450A Championship Millican
also competed in the Production A class where
he finished the season in second place for the
Championship. Millican competed in eight races
and won one event and finished second four times
and third two times. Millican had ten holeshots
out of sixteen starts in this class. This has
been Millican’s most successful season in
his three years of competing in the AMA ATV Series.
Millican did compete in the Pro Am classes at
Loretta Lynn’s and had good and bad results.
The good was the Pro Am Unlimited class. Millican
continued his streak of pulling at least one hole
shot in every event this season, getting the holeshot
in moto one and finishing fourth. In moto two
Millican again had a good start and finished ninth.
In Pro Am Production moto one, Millican again
was up front when he got hit and spun and fell
from fifth to last. Moto two was the bad for Millican,
fighting for one last holeshot of the season Millican
tangled wheels with a competitor was thrown from
the bike and ended the year with a broken leg.
Millican will take some well earned time off before
he starts preparing for a run at the Pro Am classes
in 2012.
