Snapp Takes the Pro-Am Production Class
Win at Mill Creek

Reynoldsburg, OH (4/2/2010) -
Mushin Racing’s Chase Snapp dominated the
Pro-am Production class at round one of the AMA
ATV Motocross Championship series as teammates
Dallas Tapscott and Brian Johnson also went 1-1
in the Schoolboy Sr. and College 16-24 classes
to take overall wins for the team.
Conditions for Saturday were good with sunny
skies and warm weather, but showers that were
forecast for Sunday did come into play for the
Pro-Am Production class when the skies opened
up just as the first moto got underway, but
Chase Snapp didn’t seem to care.
Snapp flew off the line in moto one, taking
second in the holeshot. Snapp laid down the
fastest lap time of the moto in lap three with
a time of 01:58.766, and two laps later, he
would take the lead and check out. Snapp would
finish in first with an 11 second lead over
second place. In moto two, Snapp was again second
off the line, but was able to take the lead
by lap two. Snapp checked out once more with
a ten second lead at the checkered flag to take
the moto win and the overall. “It’s
great to start the year with a win. Everything
went really well and I am hoping for a repeat
at Bowling Green,” stated Snapp, who would
also take a respectable third in the Pro-Am
Unlimited class.
Also in the Pro-Am Production class, Jeffrey
Rastrelli was looking good. Although moto one
was a little tough for Rastrelli, he came back
strong in moto two to take third. Rastrelli’s
19-3 had him finishing just outside of the top
ten in 11th place.
Dallas Tapscott came on strong in the Schoolboy
Sr. class as he went 1-1 to take his first overall
win of the season. Tapscott grabbed an early
lead in both motos and checked out on the competition,
finishing about seven seconds ahead of second
place.
Brian Johnson also was on fire in the College
16-24 class. Johnson was second off the line
in moto one, but took over the lead in lap two
and checked out. In moto two, Johnson grabbed
an early lead and never looked back. Johnson
would go 1-1, taking the overall and an early
points lead.

#27 Kodi
Ward
|
Kodi Ward was looking good in moto one of the
90 Auto class. The young racer was third off
the line in moto one but fought his way up to
the number one spot by the second lap and pulled
an 11 second lead before crossing the finish
line. Moto two looked as if it would be another
easy win for Ward as he took the lead early
in the first lap, but unfortunately, Ward would
encounter mechanical issues and was forced to
pull off. “Kodi did a great job out there
and he is looking forward to coming back and
taking the win at Bowling Green,” stated
team owner/manager, Scott Ward.
In the Pro Ranks, Thomas Brown would go 8-8
to secure a solid and consistent seventh place
overall. “Thomas did a good job out there
and we are expecting him to do well at Bowling
Green,” stated Ward.
Rookie Pro, Cody Gibson was off to a good start
in moto one, finishing in tenth, but moto two
would not go so well. Gibson was looking good
off the line, but then a pile up claimed Gibson
going into the first turn and he would be forced
to DNF with a possibly broken collar bone. “We
are hoping the he will be able to ride at Bowling
Green, but we’ll have to wait and see
what the doctors have to say,” said Scott
Ward. “Even so, Cody is a true champion
and he’ll come back even better than before.”
After an exciting first round, Scott Ward is
happy with the team’s performance and
is looking forward to what the future holds
for this young team. “Everything went
pretty good for our team for the most part.
We are a first year team and we do have a few
bugs to still work out, but that’s part
of racing, and we are confident we will do well
at Bowling Green,” Ward concluded.
Round two of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championships
will be held in three weeks on April 10th -11th
in Bowling Green, KY where Snapp, Tapscott and
Johnson are in the hunt for back-to-back wins,
and Thomas Brown will be shooting for the pro
podium.
