Reynoldsburg, OH (3/11/2010)
- In addition to backing Pro Racers Cody
Gibson and Yamaha’s Thomas Brown for the
2010 AMA ATV Motocross Championship race season,
Mushin Racing has stepped it up a notch and has
put out a huge amateur support program, with a
strong focus on youth riders.
For the start of the 2010 season, the team
is supporting 10 amateur ATV racers in an array
of classes that range from youth all the way
to the pro-am level. “We are doing what
we can to help out these riders with parts and
other things they may need,” said Jeremiah
Jones, who is heading up the team’s sponsorship
program and marketing efforts. “The biggest
supporters for the team this year are Suzuki,
FMF, ITP Tires and JB Racing. With their support,
our racers should do well this season,”
Jones added.
One of the newest members of the Mushin Racing
team is Pro-am racer, Chase Snapp,
who claimed third in Pro-am Production points
at the end of the 2009 season and is looking
to take his first Pro-am championship this year.
“I am really happy to be a part of the
Mushin Racing team. Scott Ward is really doing
a lot to get the recognition our sport deserves
and I am hoping to give him a championship in
both the Pro-am Production and Pro-am Unlimited
classes this year,” said Snapp, who will
be joined by teammate Jeffrey Rastrelli
in both of those classes.
Brian Johnson, a high school
senior and part time mechanic for Mushin Racing,
will be joining Snapp and Rastrelli in the Pro-am
Unlimited class, but his main focus will be
in the Production A class, where he is hoping
to secure the 2010 championship.
Brothers Kodi and Ashton Ward
will be competing in several of the youth classes
for 2010. Last season Kodi Ward claimed third
overall in the 90 Auto Jr. class at the end
of the season and this year he is hoping to
take the championship. Ashton Ward, who competed
in the 50 Ltd. Jr. class also claimed third
overall in the points chase and is also in the
hunt for a youth class championship.
Youth rider, Cody Shelton,
who has been racing nationals for two years
and had a successful season in the 90 CVT, 90
Production and 90 Auto classes, will be trying
for the championship in the 90 CVT class and
a top five in the other two. Despite the extra
challenges Shelton faces due to Cerebral Palsy,
he has a positive attitude and is determined
to not let it hold him back in any way. “I’m
really glad to be a part of the team this year
and I’m going to try really hard to do
good because I want to win the championship!”
said Shelton, whose optimism and cheerful disposition
are nothing short of inspiring.
Dallas Tapscott will be competing
in the Schoolboy Sr. class this season aboard
his LTZ400. Tapscott’s accomplishments
last season included a total of five trips to
the podium, including a win in the Schoolboy
Sr. class, where he will be competing for the
championship for the 2010 race season.
Marshall, TX native, Hunter Harper
will be joining the team for 2010 and will be
competing in the Schoolboy Sr. and Supermini
classes where he is hoping to be a consistent
visitor to the podium.
Zack Thompson will be joining
Harper in the Supermini class and will also
be competing in the Schoolboy Jr. class. Fifteen
year old Thompson, who did not start racing
until two years ago has made his presence known
at the track, winning six out of ten races in
his class last season, taking the 90 CVT Championship.
Thompson is hoping to take home another championship
for 2010.
Eight-year-old Spencer Meyer,
from Hillsboro, OH, competed in the 70 CVT class
in 2009, and will be returning to that class
with the support of Mushin Racing. Meyer will
be shooting for the top three in points at season’s
end.
Davey Nevrotski will be competing
in select events of the 2010 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships in the Supermini and 90 mod classes,
but Nevrotski’s main focus will be on
the up and coming New England ATV Motocross
series, where he will be competing for the championship.
Mushin Racing is proud of its 2010 line up,
and with the wide range of talent of its riders,
the team is looking forward to an incredible
first season as the season opener quickly approaches.
