Dalton Millican |
Delmont, PA (6/7/2010) - Dalton
Millican was racing this past weekend at
one of the more famous stops on the AMA
ATV Motocross Championship tour, Steel City
Raceway.
Millican came into this event working with
some of Custom Axis new Pro Air Shocks.
Millican spent a lot of time getting some
expert set up help from Micah MacDonough
of Custom Axis. “I have to admit I
was a little nervous trying to run new shocks
at a National. After about the second practice
session my nervousness was gone. Micah was
amazing at getting the shocks dialed in
to this track” Millican said. In the
450A class Millican started Moto 1 with
a holeshot and the lead in lap number one
before getting into a serious back and forth
battle eventually falling back to fifth
on the final lap.
The first Moto in the Production A class
again found Millican with the holeshot and
racing at the front of the pack. When the
checker flag flew Millican had another fifth
place finish. “After these two Motos
today I am real happy with how the bike
is handling. I just made a few mistakes
and I did not end up with the finishes I
would have liked to have had” Millican
said.
Bright and early Sunday morning the 450A
class was on the gate and again it found
Millican with the holeshot. This time Millican
maintained his lead for over half the race
before getting hit from behind by another
competitor. This hit broke the chain on
the quad which ended the race for Millican
who was looking for a good finish to help
boost him in the points.
After repairs were made to the quad Millican
was ready for Production A. For the first
time all weekend Millican did not get the
holeshot although he was close. After hanging
in the top five most of the race, Millican
lost control going over a table top. After
getting up and dusting himself off he limped
his way to a bruised and skinned up 15th
place finish.
“This has been a crazy day I get
ran into in one moto and I just crashed
all by myself in the other. I am making
a bee line to Union City TN next week,
gotta go see the Professor Joe Byrd. Joe
will help me not make some of those mistakes
I made this weekend” Millican said.
