DWT
/ Motoworks' Josh Frederick currently
sits second in the Pro ATV Class Points
after Round 6 |
Vista, CA (6/21/2012) –
The toughest course of the season presented
itself for round six of the 2012 WORCS series,
but Can-Am/Motoworks’ Josh Frederick was
still able to overcome the odds and finish within
the top five while teammate Dillon Zimmerman
finished well inside the top ten.
The course at On the Edge Raceway in Enterprise,
UT was only five miles long, but it featured
six water crossings that wreaked havoc on
racers and their machines. The water crossings
were treacherous with very deep parts and
big rocks in other parts. The course was also
quite narrow and rough, which led to many
bottlenecks over the course of the event.
It was a dead engine start for this round,
but Josh Frederick was ready and came of the
line just outside of the top five. Despite
a couple of small issues caused by all of
the deep water, Josh Frederick continued to
move forward and was within the top five by
the second lap. Frederick soon caught up to
the number four racer and began to apply the
pressure. Frederick moved into fourth early
in the race and was able to maintain his position
and take fourth at the checkered flag. “I
felt good this weekend and the bike was amazing,
but this was a very tough race. I had a couple
issues because of the water, but I never gave
up and did the best I could. This is the first
time I have finished off the podium in a couple
years so this is a little different for me.
Everyone puts a lot of work into our program
and I want to put the Can-Am back on the podium
next round,” said Frederick, who is
still in second in points and in contention
for the 2012 pro championship.

Dillon
Zimmerman placed seventh at On the Edge
Raceway |
Dillon Zimmerman was just outside the top
five off the start, right behind Josh Frederick,
but Zimmerman ended up getting stuck at one
of the many water crossings, in the second
lap, which put him back to 13th place. Zimmerman
wasn’t about to give up and kept on
the gas and after just a couple of laps, he
was able to move into seventh place. Zimmerman
held down the number seven spot for the rest
of the race, finishing in seventh at the checkered
flag. “This track was a lot different
than what we usually race. I tried to get
creative and make my own lines and try different
ones. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it
didn’t, but I never gave up. Even with
all the water out there, Motoworks had my
quad running great and I never had any issues,
except for getting stuck, but that was just
part of this race,” said Zimmerman,
who is currently fourth in points.

Josh
Frederick placed seventh piloting his
Motoworks / Can-Am Commander SxS at
WORCS Round 6 |
The brutal course was not much better for the
Side-by-Side classes, but Josh Frederick was
able to pilot his Motoworks Can-Am Commander
to a solid seventh place finish. “I got
a little hung up in the third lap and I lost
a couple of positions, but I just stayed on
the gas and finished in seventh. I think I’m
sixth in points right now, which isn’t
too bad for my first season. I’ve been
having a blast racing the Commander so I hope
I can finish well and the last couple of rounds,”
said Frederick.
After a short summer break, the WORCS series
will pick back up on August 3rd – 5th
where the Motoworks team will head to their
home track at Cahuilla Creek MX in Anza, CA,
where Josh Frederick will be going for the
win.
