                                  Vista, CA (1/24/2011) –
The 2012 WORCS season kicked off this past weekend
at Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, CA where Can-Am/Motoworks’
Josh Frederick charged his way to the pro podium
with a second place finish while teammate, Dillon
Zimmerman, claimed a respectable fourth place
                                  finish.

Anticipation was high for this round ad a
daunting course was laid out for racers, with
an incredibly difficult WORCS-X section. A
particular part of the WORCS-X was more like
an obstacle course with huge tires that racers
had to try to go up and over. There were few
racers who could master the section and it
caused so many complications that track officials
decided to cut it out after just four laps.
Inclement weather put a damper on thing with
                                    Saturday’s pro practice cancelled, and
caused a few track changes for Sunday’s
main event, but from there it was smooth sailing
as conditions improved and sunny skies prevailed
                                    for the race on Sunday.

When the gate dropped, Motoworks’ Josh
Frederick was off to a good start in the top
five and moved into the number two spot by
the second lap. Frederick made it through
the tricky WORCS-X section with ease in the
second lap and was close to the leader. Frederick
stayed on the gas as he tried to close in,
but in the third lap, The WORCS-X tires claimed
Frederick as one of its many victims. “I
got stuck in those tires and then my kill
cord came off. It took me a while to get going
again so there was a big gap between me and
                                    the leader,” said Frederick.
Although Frederick lost time, he did not
lose his position and charged hard to catch
back up, which paid off in lap eight when
he was able to take over the lead. Unfortunately,
Frederick’s lead would not last because
when he stopped to pit, it allowed the competition
to close back in, and after a heated battle,
Frederick fell back to second. Frederick gave
it his all, but could not get a clean pass
for the lead and crossed the finish line in
second place. “I stayed close and tried
to find some places to pass, but I couldn’t
get around him. It was a really good race
and I am happy to finish on the podium,”
                                    stated Frederick.

Frederick also competed in the UTV Class

just missed claiming a spot on the Podium

Dillon Zimmerman was back at 100% for the
season opener. Zimmerman battled his way up
from just outside of the top five and into
third place by lap two. Zimmerman battled
hard for most of the hour and a half race
as he tried to hold off several competitors.

                                  Zimmerman swapped positions several times
over the course of the race, but would take
the checkered flag in a respectable fourth
place, which tied his all-time best pro finish.
“It as a good track and I had a good
time out there. I had a good battle with David
Haagsma and that was a lot of fun. I was able
to finish in fourth and hopefully I can do
                                    even better at Buffalo Bill’s,”
                                    said Zimmerman.
Round number two of the 2012 WORCS series
will head to Buffalo Bill’s Casino and
Resort in Primm, NV on February 11th –
12th where the Motoworks team will be going
                                    for the win.
