                                  Vista, CA (5/9/2012) –
The Can-Am/Motoworks team of Josh Frederick
and Collins Webster took on the challenge of
the high desert at the BITD series’ Silver
State 300 and claimed the Pro ATV win, the team’s
first Best in the Desert series win of the season.

The 298 mile long course started out at an
elevation of about 4000 feet in the town of
Alamo and wound north through the high desert
of Nevada to the town of Pioche before circling
back around to Alamo. The terrain was quite
varied and consisted of lower elevation tumbleweeds,
Joshua trees and cacti, and evergreen trees
in the higher elevations above 6000 feet.
The course was high speed with ATV’s
averaging about 50 mph. “It wasn’t
a very technical course, but you had to be
really careful because of all the high speed
turns. Some of them were positioned on high
cliffs with rocks and trees all around and
if you went off the track it could end badly,”
                                    said Josh Frederick.

Josh Fredrick raced the first &
third leg of the race aboard a Can-Am

                                  Despite the unnerving surroundings, Josh
Frederick was at ease as he charged off the
starting line for the first segment of the
race. The team was the last to depart in their
class, but consistently gained time on the
leaders. Frederick rode fast and smooth without
incident to the 72 mile marker where Collins
                                    Webster took over.
Webster was filling in for Dillon Zimmerman,
who was racing over in Italy, and rode a solid
race. Webster kept pace with the leaders and
also ran incident free. At the 175 mile marker,
the team was within 26 seconds of the leaders.
                                    “I had a good run. I’ve raced
the BITD before, a few years ago, so I kind
of knew what to expect, but it was still fun
and I am very thankful to Motoworks for giving
me the opportunity to race with the team,”
                                    said Webster.
For the final 1/3 of the race, Josh Frederick
was back on board and he was on a mission
to close the gap and take over the lead. Frederick
kept the throttle pinned and began to close
in. “There were these long power line
dirt roads where you could go full throttle
for about a half hour and the DS450 took everything
I had to give and let me close in,”
                                    said Frederick.

Webster raced the second leg of the
                                          BITD Silver State 300 |

For this race, the team was also testing
out a new prototype tire by DWT, designed
                                    specifically for desert racing applications;
and it worked flawlessly. “The tire
is designed to withstand punctures and flats
and it did its job perfectly. We never had
a flat or puncture and we really dished out
a lot of punishment in this race. I think
these tires will be a real asset to anyone
who loves to race or ride in the desert and
wants a tire that’s going to hold up,”
                                    said Frederick.

The true test of the new tire will come when
the team goes to Mexico for the 44th annual
                                    Baja 500 in June.
The combination of a well running ATV and
superior tires allowed the Motoworks team
to have an amazing race and take the Pro ATV
class win. Although the Motoworks team did
not take the physical lead, with time adjustments,
they did take the Pro ATV win with a time
of 5:56.54 that was over two minutes faster
                                    that second place.
“This was a great race for us and I
really have to thank Motoworks, and DWT for
helping us take the win. It felt really good
to win this one, especially after we had a
few issues at the Parker 250, so this was
sort of vindication for us and now I’m
really looking forward to the next race,”
                                    said Josh Frederick.
The next round of the BITD series will be
the Vegas to Reno run, which is scheduled
for August 15th – 18th where the Motoworks
team will be going for another win.
