Town 395 WORCS Round 8 |
Vista, CA (10/27/2011) –
Motoworks’ Josh Frederick took the win
at round number eight of the 2011 WORCS series
to tie the pro points lead with teammate Jeremie
Warnia, who joined him on the podium in third
this weekend at Racetown 395 in Adelanto, CA.
A newly designed course was provided for
this event and although it was a rather short
course, it provided racers with plenty of
opportunity for passing. The short course
did have its draw backs as it became quite
rough over the hour and a half pro main event.
Josh Frederick knew it was crucial for him
to win this round and he was ready for the
challenge. Frederick was in the top five off
the start and waited patiently until the second
lap to start moving forward. The shorter course
offered plenty of opportunity for racers to
scope out good lines and places to pass, which
helped Frederick to make his way through traffic
and move into position to take over the lead.

lead on his Can-Am DS450 ATV |
Frederick was able to make the pass on his
teammate Jeremie Warnia in lap eight to take
the lead, but he would fall back to second
after making a pit stop. Frederick charged
his way back to second and began to shadow
the leader in hopes of capitalizing on an
opportunity to make an easy pass. Frederick
soon got his way when lap traffic became an
issue and allowed him to close in even further
and take over the lead in the final lap. Frederick
was able to hold his lead and take the win
by over 15 seconds ahead of the competition.
“It felt really good to take the win.
I had a good race today. I got a decent start
and was able to move up easily. The track
did get a little rough because it was such
a short track, but it was good and challenging
track. I guess Jeremie and I are supposed
to be tied for points right now going into
the last round, so I am going to do whatever
I can to make sure I take the win at Speedworld,”
stated Frederick.

Coming
off an injury from WORCS round 6 Jeremie
Warnia came out strong to round out
the podium in third place |
Jeremie Warnia was looking good as he came
off the start in the top five and was holding
a close third place early in the race. Warnia
was closing in on second but ended up having
issues in the Quad X section of the track
and fell back. Warnia wasn’t about to
give up and charged hard and caught back up.
Warnia put the hammer down and briefly inherited
the lead, but fell back again late in the
race when he began to tire. Warnia, who is
still recovering from injuries he received
at Washougal, kept a steady pace and held
on for a third place finish.
“I have been dealing with my injuries
from Washougal still, but I went out there
and gave it everything I had and tried to
do my best. I really want to win the last
race of the year and take a championship,”
said Warnia.
Dillon Zimmerman ran a very consistent race
this weekend. Zimmerman was in the top ten
off the start and was able to make his way
to the number four spot at the midway point.
Zimmerman held his position for several laps
before settling in for a fifth place finish.
