Motoworks' Jeremie Warnia took his second
win of the season at round 3 of the
WORCS Racing Series |
Vista, CA (3/23/2011) –
Motoworks’ Jeremie Warnia and Josh Frederick
had more to celebrate than just spring break
at Lake Havasu this past weekend as the pair
went one and two on the pro podium at round
number three of the 2011 WORCS series.
Normally, the Lake Havasu round can get quite
warm as temps usually spike into the 90’s,
but this year racers caught a break from the
heat as skies remained overcast and temps
hovered in the upper 70’s for the day.
A rough and sandy track was on hand for racers
at the Crazy Horse GP facility, but that didn’t
stop the Motoworks team from dominating.
As racers came off the dead engine start,
Jeremie Warnia was in second, right behind
Jarrod McClure. Warnia followed McClure until
only about a mile into the first lap and passed
him in the motocross section of the track.
Warnia then started to pull away from the
pack, but teammate Josh Frederick would catch
up after a few laps and the pair would battle
furiously back and forth, but it was Warnia
who was first to reach the checkered flag,
taking his second WORCS win of the season,
giving him a firm grasp on the pro points
lead. “I am very happy to win another
race and I am hoping to win a championship
for my team,” said Warnia after the
race.

Working
his way up from a top five start Josh
Frederick made his way up to second
place to finish the race |
Josh Frederick was in the top five off the
start and was quickly working his way up.
Frederick gained a position early in the first
lap when McClure crashed shortly after getting
passed by Warnia. Frederick recorded the fastest
lap time of the race in lap two with a time
of 06:03.697. It was that blistering pace
that allowed him to catch up to Warnia and
challenge him for the lead. The two racers
were bumper-to-bumper and tire-to-tire for
much of the race with Frederick taking over
the lead briefly in lap nine. Frederick fell
back to second in the next lap, but he never
fell off the pace and stayed with Warnia all
the way to the checkered flag and finished
in second only two seconds behind. “It
was a rough track out there, but it was a
good race and I am happy with how I rode,”
said Frederick.

Dillon
Zimmerman was able to finish with a
respectful tenth place coming back from
a shoulder injury |
Dillon Zimmerman was back from a shoulder injury
that kept him out of round two. Zimmerman was
looking good off the start and was holding down
fourth place, but since he is still not at 100%,
his injury got the best of him, so he put it
in cruise control in order to salvage points.
Round number four of the 2011 WORCS series
will be heading to Cahuilla Creek in Anza,
CA on April 22nd - 24th where the Motoworks
team will be once again looking to dominate
the podium.
