Vista, CA (10/4/2011) - The 2011
Montreal Supercross was full of thrills and spills
but Motoworks’ John Natalie, Jr. was able
to make his way to the podium and Josh Creamer
would take a top five finish in the Pro class,
while Mark Holz would take the Side-by-Side class
win in Montreal Supercross’ UTV classes
debut.
The Montreal Supercross is always a huge event
and this year was no exception with over 45,000
people in attendance. Cold and wet weather kept
a damper on the pro pit festivities as racers
pits were set up outside this time, but everyone
seemed to have good time in spite of the rain
and cold.
The track for this year was technical with
plenty of tight turns and jumps and a set of
triples that made many racers cringe, but there
were a few brave souls who went for the technical
section, which gave them an edge out on the
course.
Saturday’s events consisted of two heat
races and one main event and while there was
plenty of carnage during practices and heat
races, the first turn of the pro main event
was devastating. “Everyone was going for
the holeshot and the next thing I knew, I was
landing on my head,” stated John Natalie,
who was part of the huge pile up that involved
most of the top racers.

Despite a nasty pile up in the main Holeshot
Natalie worked his way back to the second
place before crossing the finish |
Natalie was one of the first to remount and
get back in the action. Natalie charged his
way through traffic and was able to move into
the number two spot and was beginning to chase
down the leader, but slower riders were an issue
and eventually cost Natalie the number two position,
when another rider got in the way in the triples
section. Natalie was forced to slow down and
ended up stalling him quad, allowing Cody Miller
to get by. Natalie tried to remount a charge,
but lappers became an issue and he would end
his day in second place. “It was a good
track and it was a lot of fun out there. Considering
how the start went, I’m glad to finish
on the podium,” said Natalie.
Josh Creamer suffered a nasty hit in practice
after flat landing a jump, but he still managed
to lead his heat race from start to finish for
the heat win. Creamer was ready for action in
the main event, and was in the top three off
the start but got caught up in the first turn
carnage. Creamer was the last one to get back
on track but charged his way through traffic
and reached the number four spot before crossing
the finish line. “I rode a solid race
and did my best. I made the fastest lap time
of the race, so I am pretty happy even if I
didn’t get on the podium,” stated
Creamer.

AMA ATV MX Champion Josh Creamer also
got tangled up in the main holeshot carnage.

Motoworks / Can-Am's Mark Holz
not only took the first ever UTV holeshot
in Olympic Stadium but also the first
UTV Win in history at the Montreal Supermotocross
piloting his Can-Am Commander SxS |
This was the first year for Montreal Supercross
to hold Side-by-Side races and it was a huge
success. The track was modified slightly to
accommodate the UTV’s but there was still
plenty of action. Mark Holz, who has been racing
the Can-Am Commander in the WORCS series, smoked
the competition. Holz knew that on a short and
narrow course that a good start was key to a
good race, and Holz would not disappoint as
he grabbed the holeshot and led from start to
finish, taking the first-ever Montreal Supercross
Side-by-Side class win.
Now that the Montreal Supercross has come and
gone, John Natalie will be heading back home
to continue training as he plans to defend his
number one plate at next year’s AMA ATV
Motocross Championships, while Josh Creamer
will be heading to Hemonds MX in Minot, ME for
the final round of the New England ATV Motocross
Series on October 8th where he is hoping to
wrap up the pro championship.
