points lead over the competition

Vista, CA (6/8/2011) –
Motoworks’ Chad Wienen and John Natalie,
Jr. put in a great performance as they went
one and two on the Pro Production podium with
each taking a moto win at round number seven
of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross Championships
in Millville, MN.
Heat and humidity were a factor for this
round as temps soared close to the 90 degree
mark, which left many racers exhausted after
their first moto, especially with the rough
conditions that Spring Creek MX had in store
for them, but Motoworks’ Chad Wienen
was not phased one bit by the conditions.
Motoworks’ Chad Wienen was in fifth
off the start in moto one and quickly made
the pass on Nick DeNoble and immediately chased
down Josh Upperman. By lap six, Wienen had
made his way around Upperman and Joel Hetrick,
moving him into second behind teammate John
Natalie. Wienen was right on Natalie’s
grab bar for the rest of the moto and pressed
hard, but could not find a way around the
veteran racer. “Catching John is one
thing, passing him is another,” said
Wienen, who was still looking pretty fresh
after the first moto.

for the Win

In the second moto, Wienen was hungry for
the win. “I was feeling pretty good
after the first moto and was ready to go.
Then I saw how tired John looked after he
got off the track after the first moto and
that was like blood in the water for me, so
I was feeling pretty motivated going to the
gate for moto two,” said Wienen, who
charged off the start in second and made quick
work of Joel Hetrick, who took the holeshot.
Wienen made the pass shortly into lap one
and led for the rest of the moto. Wienen pulled
away from the rest of the pack and took the
checkered flag with over a 23 second lead
over the competition. “I’m really
glad to take this win. I want to be in the
points lead going into this short break we
have. I plan to come back rested and ready
to go for Millfield,” said Wienen.

Wienen in chase

John Natalie, Jr. put in a great run this
weekend as he charged off the start in second,
behind Joel Hetrick in moto one. Natalie played
it smart and waited for his opportunity to
pass and got his wish in lap five. Natalie
was in the lead, but Chad Wienen soon caught
up and then it was all out war for the rest
of the moto, but Natalie held off Wienen to
take the moto one win. “I was a little
faster than Chad in the whoops, so I would
pick up a little speed in there and I was
able to hold him off,” explained Natalie.
In moto two, Natalie was in fifth off the
start, but quickly moved up and was challenging
Thomas Brown for second. Natalie got around
Brown, but then hit a false neutral and blew
the berm, allowing Brown and Joel Hetrick
to get back by him. Natalie charged hard and
was able to get around Hetrick quickly. Natalie
then chased down Brown and just two turns
before the checkered flag, Natalie took over
the number two spot to claim second overall
on the pro podium. “I had just passed
for second and I accidentally hit neutral
and launched sideways off the jump. I got
back around Hetrick and caught Brown and caught
him going up the step up. We had some great
racing out there today and I am really glad
to be up on the podium again,” said
Natalie.
Racer will be able to relax a bit as there
is a four week break before round number eight,
which is scheduled for July 2nd at Sunday
Creek in Millfield, OH. It is a new track
on the national circuit, but Chad Wienen and
John Natalie will both be in the hunt for
the podium as the points battle heats up going
into the final rounds of the season.
