Championships |
Vista, CA (3/23/2011) –
The Can-Am/ Motoworks team again dominated the
podium at Mill Creek with Chad Wienen taking
both moto wins for the overall while teammate
John Natalie, Jr. joined him on the podium in
second for round number two of the 2011 AMA
ATV Motocross Championships.
After coming off of an incredible first round,
the team was ready to go for round two in
Pell City, AL and was feeling confident as
they took to the track. Chad Wienen showed
he was ready to win again as he pulled the
fastest time in qualifiers earlier in the
day, and from there, Wienen made it all look
easy.
In the first moto, Chad Wienen was in third
place off the start and began to apply the
pressure to Nick DeNoble and Joe Byrd. By
the third lap, Wienen took over the lead and
began to check out. In the fourth lap, Wienen
recorded the fastest lap time of the day with
a 01:38.137 lap time and was the only racer
to break the 01:38 threshold. Wienen increased
his lead by about two seconds per lap and
took the moto one win with an 18 second lead.

In
the second moto, #44 Chad Wienen was
second off the start right behind Joe
Byrd but was able to take the lead the
first lap |
For the second moto, Wienen got an even better
start in second off the line behind Joe Byrd,
but Wienen was able to make the pass shortly
into the first lap when Byrd made a mistake
and allowed Wienen to slip underneath in a
corner. Wienen again pulled away from the
rest of the pack and walked away with the
moto two win, putting him on top of the podium
and giving him a strong points lead with 100
points. “Our whole team has been working
well together and it seems like everything
is just falling into place. We had a great
weekend and I’m really happy to be on
top of the podium again and hopefully we can
keep this up and win a championship!”
said Chad Wienen.
John Natalie, Jr. put in an incredible effort
as well and again claimed the number two spot
on the podium. Natalie was in fourth off the
line in moto one and put the hammer down to
pick off Nick DeNoble and battled hard to
take away the number two spot from Joe Byrd.
Once in second, Natalie was able to build
a comfortable gap between him and the rest
of the pack, taking a solid second place finish.

#13
John Natalie took second in both Pro
Motos securing his spot on the podium |
In the second moto, Natalie got off to a
top five start and pushed hard to pick off
Jeremy Lawson, and Josh Upperman. Natalie
would then be locked into battle once again
with Joe Byrd, but Natalie eventually came
out the victor and charged his way to another
second place finish, giving him the second
spot on the podium and second in the points
chase with 88 points. “These first two
races have gone really well for us and I think
it proves that we are here to win a championship,”
said Natalie.
Round number three of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships will head to Ballance MX in
Bowling Green, KY where the Can-Am/Motoworks
team is looking to again dominate the pro
podium.
