Motoworks'
Dillon Zimmerman grabbed the holeshot
& would lead for most of the first
lap & would later be DQ'ed for a
penalty from helping teammate Frederick |
Vista, CA (10/1/2010) - Motoworks’ Dillon Zimmerman grabbed
his second holeshot of the season at round eight
of the 2010 WORCS series, while Josh Frederick
was able to maintain second in the Pro points
standings.
The heat was intense at Glen Helen Raceway
with temperatures reaching the triple digits,
but that heat did not stop Dillon Zimmerman
from charging off the start and grabbing his
second holeshot of the season. Zimmerman led
for most of the first lap and then maintained
a steady top five position from that point
in until the final laps of the race.
In the ninth lap, Zimmerman would sacrifice
his own race to help out teammate Josh Frederick
who was leading in series points and had run
out of gas on the track. Zimmerman’s
good deed unfortunately resulted in his disqualification
from round eight, but he is still within striking
distance of a top five finish in Pro points
for the final round in October.

Motoworks'
Josh Frederick would unfortunately run
out of gas during his Pro race but still
sits in championship contention in 2nd
place in points |
Josh Frederick put in an amazing charge as
he battled his way from the very back of the
pack to reach the number four position. Frederick
was gaining ground on third place, but then
disaster struck as Frederick ran out of gas
in the ninth lap, which would end things early
for him. Despite his unlucky day, Frederick
is still in second in the points championship
race and still has a chance at winning the
Pro championship if luck is on his side.
The final round of the 2010 WORCS series
will be held at Mesquite MX Park in Mesquite,
NV on October 15th – 17th where the
Motoworks team and Josh Frederick will be
going for the win.
