Casey
Martin took his fourth win of the season
at Spring Creek MX in the Pro-Am Production
ATV Class |
Lafayette, IN 6/8/2011) - Moto-Xperts’
Casey Martin furthered his Pro-am Production points
lead by taking another overall win this past weekend
at round number seven of the 2011 AMA ATV Motocross
Championships, while teammate Aaron Meyer finished
in the top five after taking the moto two holeshot.
The weather at Spring Creek MX in Millville,
MN was hot and humid and track conditions got
rougher as the day wore on, but Casey Martin
prevailed as he made his way to the top of the
podium once again.
Martin was in fourth off the start and made
quick work of Ronnie Higgerson and Kyle Fix
early in the moto and began to chase down Jeffrey
Rastrelli. Martin was right on Rastrelli and
battled hard, but Martin was unable to make
a pass before reaching the checkers and would
settle for second place.

Moto two was a different story for Martin as
he shot off the line in second behind his teammate
Aaron Meyer. Martin stayed in second for one
lap before taking the lead and holding it all
the way to the finish. Martin recorded the fastest
lap of the moto in lap number two with a time
of 01:52.582. Martin’s fast and consistent
lap times along with his endurance that allowed
him to tale the moto two win and top the Pro-am
Production podium. Martin is still holding the
Pro-am points lead with 175 points. “I
had a great weekend out there. A lot of people
had issues because of the heat but I felt really
good and I am really glad to take another win
for Moto-Xperts. I’m going to keep trying
to win so I can extend my points lead and hopefully
give them a championship at the end of the year,”
said Martin.

After
some bad luck in Moto 1 Aaron Meyer came
back to take third in Moto 2 & take
fourth overall |
Moto one didn’t go so well for Aaron
Meyer, after a mechanical issue took him out
of commission in lap three, but the number 74x
Honda came back with a vengeance in moto two.
Meyer grabbed the moto two holeshot and led
for the first lap before Casey Martin made the
pass. Meyer held down his spot for several laps
before falling back just before the checkered
flag. Meyer would still finish out his day in
a respectable fourth place overall. “I
was feeling good out there. The heat wasn’t
really an issue for me. Moto one went really
well. I grabbed the holeshot and was leading
for a little while. Considering my bad luck
in moto one, I’m pretty happy with fourth,
but I miss being on the podium, so that is the
goal for Sunday Creek. I’m really looking
forward to that round because it’s in
my home state and I’ll hopefully have
a lot of friends and family there cheering me
on,” said Meyer.
Both Martin and Meyer were testing out a new
fuel combo for this round, which turned out
to be a success. “This was a good weekend
for our team. We tested our new fuel that we
have developed with Dragon Fuels and it worked
great. It helped keep the quads cooler, even
in the hot weather this weekend. It worked well
on the dyno and it worked well on the track
so we know we have a good product. Now we are
really looking forward to Sunday Creek with
its uphill start. Aaron and Casey are not taking
any time off from practicing and are working
hard so they can both be on the podium,”
stated Moto-Xperts owner, Toby Reed.
