Aaron Meyer pumps his fist in celebration
of his first AMA ATV Pro-Am win |
Lafayette, IN 5/12/2011) - After
almost a month of being hit by continuous rain
storms in the midwest, the Moto-Xperts / Dragon
Racing Fuels ATV MX Team headed to Walnut, IL
this past weekend for round 5 of the AMA ATV Motocross
Nationals. There the Moto-Xperts/ Dragon Racing
Fuels Pro-Am team of Casey Martin and Aaron Meyer
once again dominated each moto and took the top
two spots on the podium.
“After running from the rain the weeks
prior to round 5, I managed to finally get some
much needed seat time in for one of my favorite
tracks on the schedule. I knew the Sunset Ridge
MX track was going to get rough, so I had the
Custom Axis Trackside Support guys do some pre-moto
adjusting to my shocks. After just two practice
sessions on the track, my mechanic Patrick Kidwell
and I went to the starting line in moto 1 ready
for battle”, said Aaron Meyer.

“The Moto-Xperts/Dragon Racing Fuels
Honda TRX450R ATV launched me off the gate to
a 2nd place start. I took a few laps to see
some lines while closing in on Kyle Fix. After
a few laps I made my move and passed to take
over 1st place. That was the first time I had
passed into the 1st place spot and I felt loose
and free on my machine. That feeling let me
know that I had that moto 1 win wrapped up and
I was super pumped”, stated Aaron Meyer.

Due to the rain Casey Martin had no practice
coming into round 5. “I was a little nervous
coming into this round because I didn't get
to ride at all due to weather between rounds”,
said Martin.
“I started the day off with a pretty
nasty crash in qualifying, After that, I was
just ready to get the day over with. In the
first Moto, I had an awesome jump off the gate
thanks to my Moto-Xperts/ Dragon Racing Fuel
powered Honda TRX450R ATV. Unfortunately, I
but had a rider error and missed a gear. My
head just wasn't in the right place for Moto
1 coming off a crash”
In between Motos Martin’s mechanic Toby
Reed, Casey Martin’s mom and Clay Millican
tired to calm Martin and get his head back in
the game.

Meyer took first in Moto 1 and second
in Moto 2 placing first overall |
After a missed gear in Moto 1 Casey
Martin finished 5th and second in Moto
2 |
In Moto 2, it was Casey Martin who pulled the
holeshot followed closely by his teammate Aaron
Meyer who quickly caught up to second place
position behind Martin.
“Coming into Moto 2 I had calmed down
and set off to a good start navigating my way
through the intense first few corners. I made
a few passes into 2nd place and started closing
in on my teammate Casey Martin. A few laps in,
my mechanic made me realize I had the overall
win if I didn’t make any mistakes, so
I backed off a little and cruised to my first
ever Pro-Am Production overall win”, said
Aaron Meyer
Aaron Meyer placed second in Moto 2 giving
him the overall win in Pro-Am Production. Casey
Martin joined his teammate on podium by placing
second overall and by taking Moto 2 win.

“This was my first overall win, but I
am just the rider, this win really goes to the
entire Moto-Xperts/ Dragon Racing Fuels Team
and all of our sponsors. All the guys in the
shop; Toby, Donny, and, Pat have been working
so hard and so enthusiastic all year and I can’t
thank them enough! We have great support from
a lot of sponsors and this team would not be
what it is without them. I am proud Casey Martin
and I are able to thank everyone by his points
lead and my third place points as well as 4
overall wins, 5 moto wins, 7 podium visits,
and 7 holeshots between the two of us in 5 short
races”, said Meyer.
“Thanks to my Moto-Xperts/ Dragon Racing
Fuel Race team, Micah and Tony at Custom Axis,
Maxxis Tires, Rath Racing, Lonestar, Fly Racing,
Rekluse, and the rest of our sponsors. Also
a huge thanks to the whole MXP crew for making
this race season possible. Congrats to my teammate
Aaron Meyer on his overall win”, stated
