Washougal, WA (11/17/2009)
- Team MXN Can-Am Press Releases
Well its that time of year again, it’s
the end of the 2009 race season, and I can report
that the team has been busy over the last few
weeks, with 3 weekends of racing over the last
4 weeks, the 3rd and 4th round of the NSW MX
series and the Qld titles for 2009 has been
run.
NSW
Hardiman Cup MX Series- Round 3 &
Final Round |
The NSW Hardiman cup series is over for another
year, with the 3rd round held on the 11th of
October, both Rob and Mick were looking forward
to the more relaxed club series racing, since
coming off the nationals, Mick and Rob were
2nd and 3rd overall in the Pro standings, and
this is where it stayed after the 3rd round,
Mick managed 2,2,1 and 3rd for the four pro
motos, and Rob a 3,3,2, and 2nd, with the only
competition coming from Kawasaki’s Paul
worth, over the short 10min motos.
Rob also competed in the Vets class where he
managed 4 x 1st places to completely dominate
the class.
The 4th round was held the past weekend at
the lakes MX track, this is the first time that
quads have been invited to race at this famous
track, with the only thing to report back was
the final round was a complete washout, due
to 2 inches of rain that fell between riders
briefing and practice, the organisers and the
competitors decided that it was in the best
interest to abandon the event due to it being
too wet to get around the track.
Overall, for the series in the pro class, Kawasaki’s
Paul Worth was 1st with 269 pts, Mick Roycroft
2nd on 235 pts and Rob Booth 3rd on 233 pts.
In the Vets class it was Rob Booth with a perfect
275 pts in 1st place, Kawasaki’s Todd
O’Leary 2nd on 216 pts and Barney Hinzemann
in 3rd on 188 pts.
The annual Queensland state titles, where held
in Roma in Qld on the weekend of the 31st of
October, Mick didn’t attend this event
due to other commitments, but Rob made the 13hr
trek to Roma to compete in the Vets, and the
Ironman class.
Robs trifecta of two state and one national
title was not to be this weekend with older
brother to Kawasaki’s Paul worth, Lee
Worth decided to make a comeback to Veteran
racing. He was going to be Rob’s main
competition all weekend. With the short 8 minute
motos, proving to be a too fast for Rob, Lee
managed to get consistent Holeshots on his KTM
505, which made Rob have to work harder than
he has all year to catch Lee. Lee was on the
gas all weekend and it showed with the 5 wins
with Rob coming in 2nd overall to take the silver
for the championship round. Rob did show his
skills over some younger pros, by taking 3rd
place in the Ironman event, the 30min Moto with
all grades of riders competing is definitely
a highlight at the end of the event. Rob showed
his overall skill and endurance to take the
3rd place for Team MXN.
Full season wrap to follow shortly.
