Crowley gases his Kawasaki Teryx to add
yet another victory to his winning streak |
Irvine, CA (10/17/2010) - Monster
Energy Kawasaki's Jon Crowley increased his win
streak to three with another impressive victory
at the penultimate round of the Valley Off Road
Racing Association race in Prairie City, Calif.
The series returned to a short course format after
spending four consecutive races in the desert. Crowley
picked up where he left off in April as he went
3-1-1 on the day in his Monster Energy/Muzzy/Kawasaki
Teryx for his fourth win in seven races.
Returning to the Top
The change from desert racing to
short course motos didn't affect Crowley as he
made it look easy during his time on the track.
Although he made a mistake in thefirst moto resulting
in a third-place finish, he made up for it with
wins in the final two motos.
"The short course racing here is a lot different
than what you would see at a LOORRS event,"
said Crowley. "Here we take a bunch of desert
cars and run them on a mile-long track with jumps,
whoops, holes and tight corners. It's a lot of
fun, but it was definitely a change from running
200 miles in the Nevada desert."
Minor Changes
Crowley only had to make minor changes to his
Teryx to transition it from a desert to short
course vehicle.
"My Muzzys 840cc v-twin engine and changes
to smaller, lighter tires helped me get the holeshot
in every moto," said Crowley. "That
made a huge difference in the outcome for the
day. I was able to run my race and let the others
try and get past me."
One Last Race
There is one race remaining in the series that
will take place on October 31 in Prairie City,
Calif. The race will run the final short course
format, a format that Crowley is very comfortable
racing. While he's been on a win streak over the
past few months, Crowley sits in second after
bad luck at the first round.
"It's going to be tough to win the championship,"
said Crowley. "But that's
why we race. I'll go out and do the best I can
to get the maximum amount of
points. I just want to stand at the end of the
season knowing I tried my
best."
