Irvine, CA (8/11/2010) - Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Austin
Kimbrell and Monster Energy/ Funco/ Kawasaki’s
Chad George both took wins aboard their Kawasaki
Teryx machines at the inaugural LOORRS event at
Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, Calif. Tyler
Winbury and Robert VanBeekum gave Kawasaki the podium
sweep for both rounds of the weekend.
Although Kimbrell didn’t break his personal
record of wins-in-a-row, he tied his best of five
wins after capturing a come-from-behind victory
during Round 9 of the series. The next day, Kimbrell
nursed his vehicle to the checkered in third position
after a small part broke on the opening laps.

“This weekend we ran 15 laps, which is
almost double the laps we usually put in,”
said Kimbrell. “It ended up being an advantage
for me on Saturday since I spun out on the first
lap and had to work my way through to get up to
first. It could have been a lot worse, but we
got the valuable points. In the second race, it
was just one of those things you couldn’t
have predicted to happen with the vacuum tube
breaking and I had to do what I could to make
it through the 15 laps.”
After a five round stint without seeing the top
of the podium, George put it all together for
a great showing during the 10th round on Sunday
for his second win of the season.

“This win was long overdue,” said
George. “We came into the weekend feeling
like we had a shot for the win and we were able
to come away with our second win of the year.
I had a great battle with Bobby (VanBeekum) and
eventually got around him just before the halfway
caution. After that I was able to stay calm and
take the win.”
The Kawasaki Teryx has been proving its place
in UTV racing all season and with six podium sweeps
in 10 races, the Teryx has become the machine
to beat.
“Whether it is Monster Energy Kawasaki
Teryx teams or other Kawasaki racer teams the
Teryx has become the brand of choice in the LOORS
events,” said Reid Nordin, Team Green Manager.
“The V twin power and drive train have proven
time and time again that it can take what these
difficult tracks and talented drivers can throw
at it.”
With six more rounds remaining in the series,
the drivers still have plenty of time to move
around in the standings. Currently Kimbrell sits
four points ahead of George in the championship.
“There is still a lot of racing left in
the series,” said George. “It’s
been a tight battle between Austin (Kimbrell)
and our team. I am just trying to focus on not
making big mistakes that can cost us a lot of
points.”
