& also brought home the ATVRiders.com
Holeshot Award at WORCS Race Town 395 |
Bonsall, CA (10/27/2011) - MCR
Maxxis Tire’s Julie Russell continued to
dominate the Women’s A class with her sixth
win of the season and wrapped up the 2011 Women’s
A championship a round early, giving her, her
third WORCS championship, while teammate Beau
Baron put in an impressive run in the Pro class,
taking second on the Pro podium at round number
eight of the 2011 WORCS series. Racetown 395 in
Adelanto, CA was the hosting facility for this
round of the 2011 WORCS series.
The track had been redesigned, but was a bit
shorter than most of the courses on the circuit,
but the shorter course seemed to agree with
the team and it also allowed Julie Russell to
claim victory and win her third Women’s
A WORCS Championship. In the Women’s A
class, MCR/Maxxis Tire’s Julie Russell,
led from start to finish. Russell put in the
fastest lap time of the race in lap two with
a time of 11:01.062 and took the win by over
five minutes.

Russell has dominated her class this season
and was able to lock in the 2011 Women’s
A WORCS championship. “We are really proud
of Julie, especially since she wasn’t
even going to race full time at the beginning
of the season, but she put in the work and defended
her championship,” stated team manager
Mike Cafro.
MCR Maxxis Tire’s Beau Baron was looking
incredibly fast and smooth as he grabbed the
holeshot. In the second turn of the first lap,
Baron fell back to second, but he wasn’t
about to let the lead get away from him, and
just before the end of the second lap, Baron
took back the lead and began to pull away. Baron
recorded the fastest lap time of the race in
lap three with a time of 09:21.429, which was
over five seconds faster than anyone else MCR

6th win of the season Baron pulled a solid lead
over the competition, but fell back to third
when he had to stop for fuel. Baron’s
stop was quick and he was able to get back in
the number one spot, but with just two laps
to go, lap traffic came into play. A lapper,
who was in the way, slowed Barons’ progress
and allowed the competition to close the gap.
“I got stuck behind someone in this canyon
area and I couldn’t get around him and
Josh Frederick reeled me in,” Baron explained.
Baron put in a valiant effort, but after getting
crossed up in the sand whoops as he tried to
pull away, he ended up falling back to second,
where he would stay until reaching the checkered
flag.

Round 8 |
“I had been training really hard for
this round and I really wanted to win, but I
went out there and gave it everything I had,
so I am still happy with how I finished. Speedworld
is the final round and I am going to go out
there and try to win the last one of the season,”
said Baron.
Team manager, Mike Cafro, ran a solid race as
he came from the back of the pack to take a
respectable
seventh place finish in the Pro class. David
Haagsma, who has had a very consistent season
and is
currently ranked fifth in Pro points, was doing
well in the top five of the first few laps,
but Haagsma
encountered a mechanical issue and was forced
to call it a day after just four laps.
The final round of the 2011 WORCS series will
have the team heading to Speedworld In Surprise,
AZ
on November 11th – 13th, where Beau Baron
is hoping for a win to end his season on a high
note.
