#1 Beau Baron grabbed
another 1st place overall at the Straddleline
WORCS Race in Olympia, Washington for
Round 7
|
Bonsall, CA (7/29/2010) - MCR/Maxxis
Tires’ Beau Baron checked out on the competition
at round seven of the 2010 WORCS series to take
the Pro ATV win, while Pro-am teammate David Haagsma
took the Pro-am win and wrapped up the Pro-am
Championship two rounds early.
Track conditions were rough at Straddleline
ORV Park, located in McCleary, WA and a challenging
WORCS x section put even the best riders to
the test, but MCR/Maxxis Tires’ Beau Baron
had no trouble conquering the track and the
rest of the competition. Baron’s great
weekend started off with him taking the win
in Friday evening’s WORCS X race, and
his winning streak would continue from there.
In Sunday’s Pro main event, Baron shot
off the line in the number two spot behind Dustin
Nelson and at the midway point of the first
lap, Baron took over the lead and laid down
some incredibly fast lap times, recording the
fastest lap of the race in lap three with a
time of 10:47.617. Baron continued to push hard
for the entire race and when it was all said
and done, he would top the podium and close
in on the points lead.

Beau Baron goes over the obstacle course
at round 7 of the WORCS series enroute
to setting the fastest lap of the race
& taking the overall win for the day
|
“I felt really great out there and my
quad was running awesome. I got around Dustin
early in the race and just put the hammer down.
I wanted to get as much distance as I could
between me and everyone else,” said Baron,
who is now only two points off the championship
points lead.

#5 Josh Row currently
sits in the 3rd spot in the Pro Points
chase after taking home a great 6th
place finish at Straddleline
|
The ever-consistent Josh Row again put on a strong performance as he went head
to head with Pro GNCC racer Johnny Gallagher.
Row would battle Gallagher for several laps before
he was able to pull away and take a solid sixth
place finish. Row’s solid performances this
season have his sitting in the number three spot
in the Pro points chase.
Team Manager, Mike Cafro was looking good early
in the race, but would suffer an injury to his
wrist, which ended his race after just eight
laps. Luckily, his injury is not serious and
Cafro plans on racing again at round eight.
“I hurt my wrist and that made things
pretty tough for me. I didn’t want to
risk crashing or making it worse, so I just
pulled off,” Cafro explained.

Davi Haagsma put the hammer down at Straddleline
in the Pro-Am class to come away with
another 1st place overall finish &
wrapped up the Pro-Am points Championship
as well |
In the Pro-am ranks, David Haagsma, who has
been the dominating force all season in his
class, put on a stellar performance as he took
the Pro-am win and wrapped up the Pro-am Championship
two rounds early. “We’re pretty
excited that David wrapped up the championship
like this. He did exactly what we wanted him
to do and he got the job done. Our goal this
year is to get three number one plates, and
this is the first one of the season,”
said Mike Cafro.

Julie Russell took
her 6th straight win of the 2010 season
in Washington as she took 1st overall
in the Women's class & soon could
be wrapping up her own Championship
as well
|
In the Women’s A class, Julie Russell claimed another victory as she went
on to take her sixth straight win of the season.
If Russell is able to win again at round eight
she will wrap up the Women’s A championship
one round early. “We’re really happy
with Julie’s performance and very stoked
that she could possibly wrap up her championship
at Glen Helen,” Cafro stated.
Round number eight of the 2010 WORCS series
will be held at Glen Helen Raceway on September
24th – 26th, where Beau Baron will try
to take over the Pro points lead and defend
his number one plate, while Julie Russell will
be looking to bring home another championship
for the team.
