Beau Baron Takes 2nd Overall |
San Bernardino, CA (10/1/2009)
-Mike Cafro Racing’s Beau Baron again made
a podium appearance at round seven of the 2009
WORCS series and held strong to his Pro points
lead in pursuit of his, and the team’s,
first WORCS PRO ATV Championship.
Beau Baron was in the top five off the line
and was on a hard charge trying to work his
way up in the rough Glen Helen sand and heat.
Despite a rough and rutted track, Baron began
to pick off the competition one by one until
reaching the number two spot at the midway point
of the race. “I just wanted to ride smart
and finish well,” said Baron, who went
on to claim the second spot on the pro podium.
Baron only needs to finish within the top ten
at the final round in order to seal the deal
on his first WORCS Pro Championship.
“We are all very excited that Beau is
in this position to take the championship, but
it’s not over until it’s over, so
there is a lot of pressure as well to make sure
he is able to finish at the last round,”
said team manager Mike Cafro. “If he is
able to take the championship that is a big
accomplishment for us. Our team has been working
hard all season to make this happen and I am
very proud of their efforts.”

Josh Row claims the 6th spot at Glen Helen
|
The team’s newest member, Josh Row, again
proved that he is an up and coming rider with
plenty of potential. Row’s consistent
style had him finishing in sixth place for the
day and also has him in a position to finish
in the top five in the points chase if all goes
well for him at the final round.
MCR’s Julie Russell continued to impress
at this round in the Women’s A class.
Russell put in one of her best races this season,
and claimed the fastest lap time in her class.
“Julie rode really well out there and
I am very proud of her. She really stepped it
up for this round,” said Cafro, who did
not fair as well in the pro class due to a wrist
injury that has plagued him for most of the
season.

Cafro stated.
