Cumming, GA (6/2/2010) - Ever
have one of those feelings that you’ve
got a huge black rain cloud following you around?
After the run of bad luck the 2010 Media Allstars
Amateur Powerhouse team experienced at Sunset
Ridge we just knew the next round was going
to be different. ATVA MX Round 5 at Steel City
Raceway was going to be the weekend that we
saw the sun shine and all our bad luck was behind
us. Then we all remembered that this is racing,
and as the saying goes “you win some…you
loose some”.

#5
Josh West |
Josh West #5 recovered from a nasty digger in
Friday’s practice to prove that he has found
his groove! Josh didn’t finish off the podium
in any of his motos all weekend long. He rode
his KFX450R to a 3-3 score for a 2nd over all
in Production B and topped that performance with
a Main Event Win in the 450B class giving him
3-1 scores and his 2nd runner up finish of the
weekend!
Chase Cunningham #419 found himself battling
poor starts once again but managed to slice
his way through the pack like a hot knife through
butter. The Morehead, KY rider may have passed
more riders than anyone else all weekend long
earning himself a 7-3 moto score for 3rd overall
in the Open A class. Chase also turned the fastest
lap in both his 25+ motos but came up short
in the end going 2-3 for 2nd overall. The 4-stroke
A class didn’t quite treat Chase as well
though. After charging through the pack and
finishing 2nd in his heat another bad start
and a disconnected tether cord left him coming
through the pack again, Chase passed 9 riders
but ended up with a disappointing, but solid
9th overall.

Ryan Wheeler |
Ryan Wheeler #52 had some of the fastest laps
times in the C class at Steel City but found himself
the victim of unfortunate circumstances almost
every time he was on the track. Ryan still managed
to get a moto podium in the 4-stroke C class and
a 2-13 score gave him an 8th overall. The 450C
class saw the Hillsboro, OH rider earn 10-10 finishes
for 11th overall. Ryan is due a great weekend
and it’s only a matter of time before he
is on top of the podium!
Jake McGraw # 83 also saw a productive weekend
go down the drain when his chain broke during
the 4-stroke B main. Jake claimed a 3-12 score
and earned 7th overall and some valuable points.
7-8 moto scores in the Production B class were
good enough to earn Jake a 6th overall and his
second top 10 of the weekend.
The Vet 30 A/B class got a little tougher for
Mark Batson #636 this weekend as former pro
class champ Tim Farr decided to run with the
series’ fastest vets. Mark proved he was
up to the task and earned another top 10 finish
by going 7-9 for 9th overall.

#665
Ronnie Higgerson |
Ronnie Higgerson #665 has seen his share of bad
luck after his career moment on the podium at
Round 3. Ronnie saw a blown head gasket take away
any chance of capitalizing on qualifying 4th in
the Pro-Am Production class. But he has proven
that he has the speed to run up front so we’ve
not seen the last of the #665 KTM on the podium!
Although our team was short handed with injuries
and graduations keeping several riders sidelined
for round 5, the cliff notes version of the
2010 MMS/Media Allstars Amateur Powerhouse Team
put in another fine performance. Many of our
riders our sitting out the Millville, MN MX
race in 2 weeks but we’ll be in full force
for ATVA MX Round 7 in Blountville, TN as we
will tackle Muddy Creek Raceway with a vengeance!
