Maxxis' Chris Borich Wins 2013 River Ranch GNCC Season Opener

Suwanee, GA (3/13/2013) - Ready to defend his 2012 championship, Chris Borich began the season on the offense with a victory in the GNCC’s Round 1, held March 10 at River Ranch, Florida. Fellow Maxxis rider Walker Fowler joined Borich on the XC1 podium in third place.
Borich bested his opponents in a hotly contested, dusty race, battling his way to a commanding lead by the end. He said that his Maxxis tires came through for him as they have in past seasons: “The race went well. I got a good start and the tires just hooked up great off the line. It was super dry and dusty, but the front tires were so predictable. Usually the loose sand like that wants to pull you all over the place, but my traction was spot-on.”
Fowler overcame serious difficulties in the first corner, which left him close to last place at the beginning, to make steady progress and eventually take his place on the podium. Like Borich, he was grateful to be riding Maxxis tires. “The track was really dry and powdery sand. I ran the Razr Xc rear and just had awesome forward and side bite,” said Fowler. “I had the biggest comeback of my career battling back from the wreck off the start.”

Other Maxxis-sponsored riders also did well. One of the contenders for the lead for much of the race, Chris Bithell took fourth place. XC2 Pro Am first-place finisher Brycen Neal earned a spot in the overall top ten in eighth place, while Landon Wolfe took second in XC2 Pro Am and 11th place overall.
