Fowler won the XC2 Pro Am class and finished third
overall at the GNCC’s Round 8, held June
25 in Snowshoe, West Virginia.
Fowler overcame a challenging initial lap to
claim third place overall and his sixth straight
XC2 win of the season. "I let my nerves get
the best of me and I blew the first turn and hit
a hay bale," Fowler told gnccracing.com.
"I didn't ride well at all on the first lap,
and the entire second row got around me. After
that, I just settled down and started riding like
I should have from the get-go and started picking
off riders and found myself up front."
Fowler leads the XC2 class by 59 points. He was
joined on the XC2 podium by fellow Maxxis rider
Gabe Phillips, who took second place in Round
8 and is second in XC2 points.
In the morning race, Team UXC’s Michael
Swift won the overall and the 4x4 Open class,
while teammate Clifton Beasley took third place
overall along with the U2 victory. “It was
a rough track and that’s where I do well,”
Swift said. “My game plan was to win or
break, showing no mercy on the machine. And not
only did we win, we won big. Our Bighorn 2.0s
tackled the rough terrain all day and were still
in good shape when it was all done!”
Traci Cecco earned her fourth Women’s class
victory of the season. Cecco leads the Women’s
class by 11 points.
