Parks Wins Second BITD Bluewater Desert Challenge
Best
in The Desert Racing Series - Round 8 - Parker,
AZ - October 16, 2011
Suwanee, GA (10/21/2011) - Matt
Parks’ Vipr UTV tires came through for him
as he won his second consecutive Best in the Desert
Bluewater Desert Challenge. The race was held Saturday
and Sunday, October 15-16 in Parker, Arizona.
Parks came into the race just seven points from
the overall UTVP points lead, with two victories
and two additional podiums under his belt this
year.
Starting from fifth place on Saturday, he worked
his way to second place by the end of the race.
His strong finish Saturday allowed him to start
in second place on Sunday: “Coming into
the hot pit, we were only 30 seconds behind [another
team], and by the end of the three-mile Parker
Python infield section, we were within 20 seconds,”
he said. “The course on Day 2 was really
torn up after 175 race vehicles each did three
laps on the 25- mile course. The whoops were massive,
the silt blinding and the ruts so deeps that we
dragged the skid plate.” He eventually took
over the lead Sunday, and won the event with a
margin of nearly 10 seconds based on his cumulative
time from both days of racing.
“This was my second race on the new Maxxis
Vipr tires and once again, they performed flawlessly,
with zero flats and great high-speed stability,”
Parks added.
Maxxis congratulates Matt Parks on his victory
and wishes him the best in Best in the Desert’s
Henderson 250, the final race of the season
