Tim Farr's KTM
450XC Extreme Dirt Track Race ATV - Continued
As for Tim Farr’s 450XC in race trim, it appeared
virtually stock besides addition of aftermarket A-arms,
shocks, tires, wheels, exhaust, sway bar, and nerf bars.
Ofcourse, Ohlins shocks were still used on Farr's TT quad.
Also, the front fenders were trimmed and the headlight
was removed along with the instrument cluster on the handlebars
being replaced with a stand alone start button. Everything
else appeared to be stock, but some engine modifications
may have been done by Tim’s mechanic Mark Baldwin
among a few others things that didn't stand out.
Most of the weekend, KTM crew stayed behind closed
doors preparing the 450XC for its first race, and they
apparently did their homework because Tim Farr didn’t
miss a beat on the race track. Farr secured the Pro-Am
Unlimited win, which is was an impressive victory on
a brand new machine, but with a 11 time national champion
onboard, the odds were in KTM’s favor regardless
of any issues with KTM’s first ATV offering.
As for Tim Farr’s next race appearance, I suspect
we will see him and KTM at either the Snow Shoe GNCC
or DuQuoin State Fairgrounds EDT Race in two weeks.
The information provided about the KTM 525XC &
450XC is strictly unofficial since a production unit
is not yet available or released to the public, so some
of specifications and/or features mentioned or shown
in the photos could still change before the finalized
models are released. We have attempted to provide our
readers with the most in-depth information available
to date along with over a hundred photos of the stock
525XC and 450XC units revealed at the Extreme Dirt Track,
but until KTM officially releases all model information
things can still change.
After months of speculation, details on the new KTM
Sport ATVs are finally emerging and it will only be
a matter of time before KTM officially releases all
the specifications on this exciting new Sport ATV model,
and yet another manufacturer embraces ATV racing, which
can only lead to bigger and better things for the sport.
