- Duns Motocross Track in the
Scottish Borders played host to the first round
of the 2010 Quad Racing Scotland Championship
on Sunday 28th March.
Race 1 started perfectly as Paul Holmes claimed
the holeshot. He soon settled into a smooth
rhythm gaining a very respectable lead in front
of the pursuing pack led by local Scottish riders
Leon Beda and John Mitchell. The gap stayed
the same until Holmes claimed the chequered
flag as well as the Race 1 victory with Mitchell
2nd and Beda 3rd. Paul also made the fasted
lap of the race and the day with a 2:27.274
in lap 4 of the race.
Race 2 saw another good start for Holmes who,
despite being in second place around the first
corner, was leading the race before the end
of the first lap. Forging ahead, Holmes built
up a decent lead and continued to ride strong
to claim another victory with Beda in 2nd and
Mitchell in 3rd.
Torrential rain accompanied Race 3 but the
HOLMES Racing KTM was set up perfectly in order
to tackle the wet and slippery conditions. As
rain poured down on the Lammermuir Hills, Holmes
claimed another holeshot, pulled another very
convincing lead and stayed strong until the
end finishing over 14 seconds ahead of second
placed rider Beda
An excellent day’s racing for Holmes
who remained unchallenged in every race and
claimed 3 wins from 3 starts.
“It has been a brilliant day for
me, a real confidence booster going into next
weekend’s European Championship opener
in The Netherlands. I wanted to use today’s
racing as a continuation of my practice and
training regime, and I’m more than happy
with the result. I'd like to say a huge THANK
YOU to all my sponsors for their incredible
support and generosity," said Paul Holmes
