Danville, VA (5/4/2010)
- Ronnie Higgerson took his
Titan Motorworks powered KTM to a spectacular,
hard fought 2-3 finish in Pro-Am Unlimited on
Saturday at the Birch Creek AMA ATV Motocross
National despite a crash in practice on Friday
that injured his hand. In his heat race he got
off to a good start in 5th and worked his way
up to second place and was able to hold the
spot just ahead of Chase Snapp, all the way
to the finish. In moto 2, Higgerson barely missed
taking the holeshot, blazing his way to second
place. He would only render one position mid
race after a hard fought battle, giving him
his first career Pro-Am Unlimited spot on the
podium.

450SX ATV to pull him towards the front
of the pack during the holeshot |
“I could tell my Titan/KTM was putting
down the power to my new Goldspeed Tires and
pulled hard all the way coming out of the corners
and down the straight-aways. I just left a little
room on the outside of a turn and he was able
to sneak by me. The track was really rough but
the bike handled really well and soaked up all
the breaking bumps that developed in the sandy
clay. I’m glad I was able to get a good
start and hang on and get my first podium. I
feel I’ve come a long way and I still
have room to improve. It’s still so unreal,
and I’m thankful to all my sponsors and
family for their support. Without them I’d
never be here,” says Higgerson
Higgerson took the fifth fastest qualifying
time Sunday for Pro Am Production which gave
him a good gate pick for the first moto on Sunday.
Unfortunately, Higgerson was plagued with bike
problems when a hard landing caused problems
with his intake boot on Sunday during his first
and second motos causing him to not get the
finishes that he wanted. Look for him to be
on the podium come Round 4 at Sunset Ridge.
Ronnie spent most of the winter in Florida
training and riding. He plans to continue to
train even harder and finish in the top 5 in
Pro-Am Unlimited and top 10 of Pro-Am Production
this season. Higgerson’s third place finish
moved him into the fifth spot for the series
so far this year and currently sits in 14th
for Pro-Am Production.
