Funco Monster Energy Kawasaki's Chad George finished the season with a win LOORS at Firebird Raceway

Irvine, CA (12/17/2011) - Funco Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Chad George piloted his Monster Energy Kawasaki Teryx to the top of the podium at Firebird Raceway in Phoenix, Ariz., at the final round of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS). After running up front all weekend and leading most of the main event, Muzzy’s Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Robert VanBeekum finished in second place giving Kawasaki a 1-2 finish on the day.

After another great season, George ended the year on a high note by polishing off his fourth win of the season at Firebird Raceway. In the main event, George started at the back of the field and had not made much progress by the halfway point. In the second half of the main, George began his assault for the lead and lap after lap made progress towards the front. With two laps remaining, George would make the pass for the lead and hold on to win in the final main event of the season.

Coming into the final round, VanBeekum was looking to cap off the season at the front of the field and finish strong in the overall standings. VanBeekum took a hold of the competition by laying down the fastest lap time in qualifying. In the main event, he continued to perform at the top of the field, maintaining a strong lead throughout the majority of the race. VanBeekum would finish second on the day and runner-up in the championship.

In LOORRS, the Unlimited and the SR1 classes run together despite the larger power plant in the SR1 class UTVs. However, this weekend George and VanBeekum were set to put their Teryx’s second to none. George not only won the Unlimited UTV class, but also finished ahead of all of the SR1 racers while VanBeekum boasted the fastest lap of the race.
