Monster Energy Kawasaki's Josh Creamer Overcomes in Alabama
2009 AMA ATV Motocross Nationals - Round 2 - Mill Creek Raceway

Josh Creamer with Mechanic

Monster Energy Kawasaki ATV Josh Creamer finished 14th overall

Irvine, CA (3/26/2009) - Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Josh Creamer rose above an unavoidable crash in the first moto to finish sixth in the second moto and finished 14th overall during the second round of the AMA ATV Motocross Championship at Millcreek Raceway in Pell City, Ala. It would be easy to feel defeated, but Creamer rode the pace he could with a sore neck and back in the final moto. Teammate Chad Wienen finished 20th.

First Moto Flight
Creamer hadn’t even made it through two turns when he and his quad were sent flying through the air. His quad was damaged in the crash and Creamer was unable to continue the first moto.

“I felt like I got a good jump, but it was soft which slowed me down a little,” said Creamer. “I was getting ready to settle in with the pack when I got wedged between two guys. Once my front end was in the air, I knew it wasn’t going to be good. I just closed my eyes and waited to land. I felt the impact on my lower back and neck. I’m still a little sore.”

Chad Weinen had fastest qualifier

Monster Energy Kawasaki ATV Chad Wienen won top qualifier award

Top Qualifier
During Sunday’s qualifying practice, Wienen was on the gas and won the top-qualifier award. The rest of his day didn’t go as well, but he was able to walk away with an extra $100.

Bring it Back
After a disappointing start to the first moto, Creamer was eager to ride and see how he could do. Although the soreness in his back and neck hindered his performance, Creamer rode his heart out to finish sixth.

“When I went out for the second moto, I tried to see where I was with the pace,” said Creamer. “The front pack was pulling away so I decided to be smart and finish the best I could.”

Pro-Am Production
Kawasaki rider Cody Gibson made an impressive appearance at Millcreek Raceway, going 1-1 in the Pro-Am Production class. This was Gibson’s first race of the series and he made it count with two dominating motos.

Putting the Past in the Past
With Round 2 in the books, Creamer and Wienen look to the next round at Balance Moto X in Bowling Green, Ky. to bounce back from the unfortunate luck in Alabama.

“My back and neck are still a little sore and it looks like rain all week here in Alabama so I think I’m going to take it easy until next week,” said Creamer. “I would rather heal up than push it too hard.”
