Justwin
Racing's Justin Reid took 4th overall
at Silverstone MX Circuit

UK (4/18/2011) - Comber’s
Justin Reid put on a dazzling performance to
get his 2011 Goldspeed ACU British Quad Championship
campaign of to a flying start this past weekend,
taking his Justwin Racing Can-Am to a 4-5 scorecard
to finish 4th overall on the day and in the
series at a sunny Silverstone Motocross Circuit.
Promoted at the Shrine of Formula 1 racing
by the Nora-MX Quad Racing Club on Sunday
the 17th of April, the revamped 0.8-mile circuit
was an all-new challenge for a resurgent Reid
but, keen to make up for a disappointing 2010
season spoiled by a freak injury at the start
of the year, Justin’s tenacity and drive
showed the large crowd in attendance that
he has not lost any of the skills or speed
which have won him multi British and Ulster
titles.

At a slight disadvantage with no prior knowledge
of the circuit unlike many of his rivals who
had competed there at Club level, Reid struggled
initially to get the fast and demanding layout
dialled in, but constantly improving as the
qualifying session went on ensured an all-important
front row start with 13th pick of gate.
As the gates dropped for the first of two
twenty-five minute plus two-lap motos, Reid
got immense drive off the line and swept around
the first corner in 7th as the thirty strong
field headed out on the first of seventeen
laps, quickly ascending through the field
to break the timing beam for the first time
in 6th before slotting in to 5th two laps
later. Setting a relentless pace as he chased
down the leaders, Reid fended of the many
challenges as he gradually bore down on the
rider ahead, taking the position with three
laps to go and comfortably holding to the
chequered flag for a superb 4th.

An almost textbook start to the final heat
of the day saw Reid narrowly miss out on the
holeshot and slot in to 2nd to lead the pursuit,
but a slight mistake on the opening lap dropped
him back two spots and now involved in a frantic
three way battle for 3rd. Running 5th with
ten minutes gone and maintaining his pace
as the race progressed despite a lack of much
needed bike time, Reid came under increasing
pressure from current British Champion, Paul
Winrow, in the closing phase of the race,
battling valiantly to hold off the challenge
for four fast and furious laps to secure 5th
at the flag and 4th in the series.
Having got his 2011 Championship campaign
of to a fantastic start and with just four
points the deficit to 2nd, a delighted Reid
commented afterwards
“I’m glad to be back at the sharp
end of British Championship racing but I have
a bit of work to do yet, it’s been a
while since I’ve raced at this level
and I’m definitely a little rusty. I
got good starts today, which is half the battle
and I had some good lines which allowed me
to maintain a decent pace. I’m really
looking forward to the next race now as the
track is brilliant and my quad is working
excellently.”
