at Pleasure Valley
Union City, TN -Joe Byrd Quad Riding School's
Travis Moore and Aaron Meyer made the Pro-am Production
podium, and Joe Byrd made his return to the Pro
Production class at round eight of the AMA ATV
Motocross Championships.
Pleasure Valley in Armagh, PA was the hosting
track for round eight, which marked Joe Byrd's
comeback after a devastating crash a couple of
months ago that left the former champion with
numerous injuries. Byrd was looking good in moto
one as he shot off the line inside the top five
and worked his way into the number three spot.
Despite not having raced for over two months,
Byrd hung in there to take a top five finish.
In moto two, Joe Byrd ran into some technical
difficulties, which caused him to fall back, but
he promises to come back even stronger at Unadilla.
"This was my first round back and I was
just getting my feet wet a bit, so to speak. At
the next round I am hoping to be back on the podium,"
Byrd said.
Even though American Honda has backed off on
their racing efforts for 2010 due to the economy,
the manufacturer showed they still support the
racers, as they presented Joe Byrd with a brand
new Honda Big Red side-by-side, tricked out with
an aftermarket rim and tire package, a roof, and
graphics.
"I really have to thank Honda for all of
their support they had given me over the years;
this was a great gesture on their part and I really
appreciate it," stated Byrd.
It was also a good weekend for the Joe Byrd Quad
Riding School team as both Travis Moore and Aaron
Meyer earned podium positions in the Pro-am Production
class. In moto one, Moore would work his way up
from a seventh place start to the numberthree
position before reaching the checkered flag, while
Meyer would make an impressive charge from fifth
to second.
In the second Pro-am moto, the DASA powered Aaron
Meyer would fly off the gate taking the moto two
holeshot Meyer would lead for a lap, but eventually
fall to fifth, giving him third overall for the
day, while Moore would make a hard charge once
again to take a fourth place finish, giving him
the number two spot on the podium.
"I have to thank Joe Byrd Quad Riding School
and all of my sponsors. It was a tough race, and
I am happy to be on the podium," said Moore
from the podium.
"I have to thank DASA and Joe Byrd Quad
Riding School. We've been working hard and it
is paying off," added Meyer.
Round nine of the AMA ATV Motocross Championships
will head to Unadilla in New Berlin, NY on July
17th- 18th where Joe Byrd and his team will be
in contention for the podium.
Joe Byrd would like to
thank all of his 2010 sponsors:
DASA, Walsh Racecraft,
IMS Products, Fly Racing, Hinson Racing, Precision,
Renthal, Tire Balls, Leatt, Tsubaki Chains, Powermadd,
StreamLine Performace Braking, Rath Racing, Web
