                                      Ontario, CA (4/3/2012) -
How was your weekend? For ITP riders at
the Steele Creek GNCC in Morganton, North
Carolina, it was excellent. A number of
talented Team ITP riders stepped up on
the podium at the end of the third round
of the 2012 Grand National Cross Country
                                        Series.

Adam McGill (Hon) put on an awesome come-from-behind
charge on a course notorious for its narrow,
hard-to-pass nature to finish second in
the XC1 Pro class and second overall.
The West Virginia native has now moved
into third in the point standings, despite
his mechanical issues at round two.
Patrick McGuire (Yam) was on the course
at the same time as McGill, on his way
to fourth place in XC2 Pro Am. This was
enough to easily keep him in the number
one position in class points for the season.
The morning races were even more rewarding
for ITP riders. Ageless Dave Simmons (Yam)
was once again the overall winner, ahead
of well over 200 competitors. He captured
the Super Senior 45+ win in the process,
his third in three events so far in 2012.
Sixth overall in the morning wave and
first in the Women’s class was Angel
Atwell (Yam). The top three in this race
were separated by only three seconds after
nearly two hours of racing, proving how
competitive these gals are. This was Atwell’s
second win of the year and third consecutive
podium finish, which shot her into the
                                        points lead for the group.
Glenn McConnell (Yam) climbed to the
top of the Masters 50+ podium for the
                                        second consecutive time while finishing
15th overall. This moved him into fourth
in class points, but since an amateur
                                        rider’s best 11 of 13 events count
in the standings—and he did not
                                        participate in round one—he’s
                                        certainly in championship contention.
The series now moves to Union, South
Carolina, April 14-15, for the Big Buck
                                        GNCC.
