Coastal / Holz Racing Polaris RZR Third at BITD Bluewater SxS Race
Best in The Desert Racing
Series - Bluewater - Parker, AZ - October 14, 2012
Lynden, WA (10/16/2012) -The Coastal / Holz team
rolled into Parker, AZ ready for battle and to keep after the year
end points chase, a mere 7 points back from the lead.
The Best in the Desert Blue Water Challenge is a two-day event
featuring a 25 mile lap located along the Colorado River. The Pro
UTV Class is a 150 mile race, with the schedule calls for completing
3 laps each day. At the end of the two-day event, the winners are
determined by combined overall time on course.
Lined up in the eight starting position, the Coastal/Holz Polaris RZR
XP left the line a little after 6:15am on Saturday morning for Day
one of the 75 mile Blue Water Desert Challenge. Coming off wins in
the Silver State 300 and Vegas to Reno, the Coastal/Holz XP was
determined to work its way to the front and build on the recent success.
After taking the lead on course, the #1934 suffered a mechanical
and watched the win slip away just like a slipping CV. Finishing
up in 2:05:28, they crossed the line in sixth place on front wheel
drive only and rolling on a flat. With a morning race, the team had
plenty of time to get back, assess the situation and get the #1934
ready for Day 2.
"As much as we want to, you can't win every desert race. The level of
competition is great, and the level of punishment delivered to these
vehicles is unbelievable. The UTV class continues to establish itself
as a serious contender, a Polaris RZR XP took the Race 1 overall by
7 minutes on Saturday." said Mark Holz.
With a fresh set of axles & CVs in place, the Coastal/Holz team
staged before sunrise on Sunday morning in the sixth spot and got
to work prove they have the car to win. The tough thing about a
short loop race is the course gets pounded and becomes brutally
rough — by far the roughest race course of the year. Holes that
could swallow up a UTV, silt berms that can trap an unsuspecting
driver. But the Coastal/Holz team was having none of that today.
Just a smooth, deliberate drive to the front. Taking the Day 2 win
in 1:54:41 on Sunday, and combined with the 2:05:28 on Saturday,
the 4:00 elapsed time was good enough to take the third spot
on the box. And keep the championship drive alive with one race
remaining. "Today was brutal - the holes were huge - glad we had
these Walker Evans shocks on the car today." said Mark Holz.

Our developmentcycle is as
straight forward as we are. Designed on a computer,
built by hand and tested on the track and in the
woods. Only after we’re certain we’ve
built the best we can, then we put it in production
and put it in stock. And now for the past five
seasons, we’ve taken that same process and
applied it to our line of ATV & UTV Products.
We build complete packages. Shocks from FOX and
Walker Evans along with valving matched to perform
at the highest level. Long Travel A-Arms, Extended
Swingarms, Long Travel Linkages, Steering Stems,
and parts that make the ride better. We strive
to keep all our parts in stock and ship things
as quick as possible to keep you riding, not waiting
for the delivery man. Holz Racing Products...
